I got my visit from the old and one day later teh came and smoked me. They stole the crystal and I was forced to get help to kill them. When all was said and done my crystal was gone!!! Will I get another one or is the fs character locked away forever??

If you've been given access to the villiage, you can get a new crystal there. I believe it is the Captain that will give you one. Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

If you died to the Sith that attack after you have the crystal you Lose it. However, the old man will come again some random time from 1-72 hours and give you another.

During phase 4 I saw a guy called the Village Elder, who had a dialogue option that asked him for a new crystal because you lost your other one. I didn't click it though, since I didn't lose mine. You could try looking for him

The elder who will replace your crystal is Rohak. It's one of the options when you converse with him.

I know what you are talking about. Hey guys he can not get in the village yet so the elder does him not one bit of good. Remember forcefield till you are given the waypoint.

Ok here is your answer and you will not like it. You wait for the old man to come and see you again. It is as if you just got glowy at the time you died. So another 1-4 day wait. Remember them Sith are hard. Once you see the old man live in a group if you are outside a building or in space.

Just curious, but what good is the crystal after you've gotten access to the village?

Not much, it acts as your journal, a log of the quests you have completed so far. You can't actually 'use' it for anything.
