What happens if you aren't master medic:
will you still be able to take the quest?
or will you just not be able to CRAFT all the required med packs?

You have to be master medic to take the quest... gotta be master medic to craft the items you need.. Best bet is find a BE to craft your stuff.. then go and finish the quest.

I was a MASTER bio-engineer, but used my last token respec to shift to Master DOCTOR, Bio-Engineer 0004... and then the stupid woman tells me that I have to be a Master Medic "or preferably with even more experience". And yet she would not give me the quest.
I'm a freaking MASTER DOCTOR and apparently that's not as good as a master MEDIC. I /bugged it because I think it's -stupid-. I could have respec'd into Master Medic and Master Doctor, but I was under the impression that I needed Bio-Engineer xxx4 in order to craft the things I would need... there are all of five bio-engineers on my server, seems like, so I did not expect to be able to get them from anyone ELSE...
I'm not about to drop Master Doctor (or Master Creature Handler) to raise medic up to Master Medic... I wouldn't mind dropping the rest of Bio-Engineer to get Master Medic ----- once you lose Master Bio-Engineer, the rest doesn't matter anyway ----- but just as sure as I do that, the stupid woman will say "SURE! Now that you are a master medic, ~doctor~, you can start the quest! Oh, but you have to be a bio-engineer to make the medicines."
It's at that point that I snap her little neck. :E
I went ahead and did the Crafting quest for Phase I (which is going to be a nightmare, raising crafting exp)... but I'll have to do SOMETHING in the next Phase I, and I was really hoping I could get that plant... be just my luck to take the quest (next time around) and the find out I cannot complete it unless I raise my Bio-Engineering skills (again)... and just as sure as I drop Master Medic to do that, I'll have to talk to the NPC and she'll tell me I failed the quest or something.
As many bugs as they have, it's amazing I still play.
[Sidenote about bugs: it's not a bug per se but the "calibration" logic games for the crafting quest in Phase I were pretty much GUESSING games for me ---- on one of them, I could not even see any difference in the ~shading~ of the yellow boxes as I moved the sliders around.

Bottom line for this phase is, you need as many med crafting points as you can get, or get a master BE to make the meds for you. You'll need to get above 92% experimentation on one of the meds, so good resources and alot of crafting points is a must.
The guide to Aurillian quests sticky has some more info on the different meds you need to craft and what precentage experimentation cures which illness.

They should just make this NOVICE medic required.
I think the MASTER medic requirement was from back when both CM and DOC required master medic.
I bought a complete set of the antidote kits from a BE hoping that my CM 4000 skills would be enough ... but sadly .. I will NEVER be a master medic.. so I will never unlock this branch.
It is stupid when they make BIG changes like the CU, and they dont go back and retro fix quests etc that were based on the previous system.
