Thread: Ok, i waited extra for the old man . . .
First thing, although you say you are glowy, do the /che to double check (just to cover all bases). I had a friend who said he was find out he really wasnt.
Try shuttling between different player cities. Run some missions on different planets, except kash. The waiting is a pain, but he should come eventually. Not sure what else to tell ya. Good luck hope he comes for ya.
The old man should take between 1 and 3 days to show up. If I recall correctly, you do NOT receive a system message if you miss him (unless they changed it). You also do not receive a system message when he arrives. It has also been my experience that he doesn't always appear on your radar - I missed him the first time because I was looking for a white dot, but never saw one. This seems to be more true if you're on a vehicle.
The best thing to do is to watch that spatial tab very closely and try to stay out of static cities as much as possible until he shows. Also, try to stay off of vehicles unless absolutely necessary - that's how I missed him the first time.

But he hasn't shown up yet. I play primarily every evening. Got glowy last Monday, played normally, 90% of the time outside of NPC towns. Didn't see the old man by wednesday, came back and read all the faqs again, still no man as of Saturday, decided to wait the weekend and still nothing as of today.
From other post it sounds like you get a system message saying the old man left?? I have not gotten anything like that, if you do get one. I keep an eye on my radar, no extra white dots anywhere so I'm not sure what to do. I am on Dant most of my time, should I be on another planet? Keep waiting (which is of course what I'll be doing, just waiting for him to show), or petition for my glow stick(might as well ask for the world lol)
Thanks for any advice.
Get off dantooine. Stay in player cities. He doesn't show up in NPC cities, or while you are fighting.
There is no system message that i've ever seen, he runs up and says something in spacial. So you have to watch your spacial chat.
Chances are you've missed him several times in the last week or so.

I knew as soon as I posted he'd show . . . well thats not true, he ran up to me about 10 minutes ago so at 1:30 am. On Dant actually. I had just landed in the shuttle and was going to walk to my house about 2k away as some people had suggested.(Shuttle was a player city, I live out even further) Just as I started walking I noticed a white arrow on my radar moving pretty quick in my general direction, so I turned back down the street and actually saw the old man round the corner and come talk to me.
I moved pretty slow this last week intentionally, but it stands to reason that maybe he couldn't get to me and I ran off. No way I'd know if the game doesn't tell you. But I play far out 3rd person all the time, and I would have noticed him come up to me since I communicate via spatial 99% of the time when not in tells or group. I'm used to looking for them. But thanks for the additional advice, it paid off. I did make the same mistake last week with the second to last force status message hehe, then I realized it was wrong one.
Now I just need to wait on the shadows, no problem there, I have killed other peoples for them so I think I can handle my own. Then once I find the villiage I'll wait for the next phase and start cranking out those quests.
Due to bugs I got 6 visits from the old geezer. The 1st 5 sith attacks were bugged.
He can and will come to you while fighting and while on Dantooine.1 of my visits happened this way. Same for 1 of the sith attacks. They incapped me while I was shooting at pickets. With the aggros happening I didnt see them untill it was too late.
All the other old man visits came after shuttling around. Same for my other Sith visits. Shuttling to player cities works.
But be causious that someone else dosent kill your sith attackers. When this happens, you dont get the waypoint for the sith camp or village.
One thing I should mention is that the old man (just like the moisture farmer and other "white dot" characters) does not show up on the round radar unless you have him targeted. He DOES show up on your overhead map as previously mentioned as a quick moving white triangle heading right for you.
My suggestion if you are waiting for the Old Man is to have your ctrl+m overhead map up until he shows. If you are only watching the round radar screen, he could be right behind you and you would never see him...
