CU made the game better. no more god mode (and i was a GOD before the CU). and since when was there ever going to be a patch to make everyone jedi? you know not everyone wants to be jedi right?
I agree
True 'God mode' was a little extravegant, but I have to disagree on the part it made the game better. It didn't make the game any better, it made it into Everquest. SWG had a style different from the other mmo's. It was unique. Tell me how unique it is now. The Galactic Civil War was actually worth fighting for. Now what's the use if you're not a pwning joo level 80? Most of your crafting professions actually had credibility in the game. Doc's would need buff packs, Creature Handlers would need stims to heal their pet, any ranged or melee character would need food or drinksfrom a chef. Geeze Entertainers actually played a proportional role in the game. Although image designing wasn't a very catchy prof. And I'm sure there is 2 dozen other arguments that will hold water.
Jedi schmedi. Everyone wants to be one, but no one wants to grind one. It's a double edge sword people.
The devs didn't want to go through all the trouble of balancing and tweaking each profession because they're lazy. They've had the CU system already implemented into other games they've developed, it was just 'easier' for them to manipulate the code once it was in place. Good bye uniqueness hello Grey matter. You can't win the war when you're already losing the battle.
Wait till MxO is fully integratedwith SOE. BIG mistake Warner Bros. Entertainment. Watch that game plumit as badly as this one. They'll poke at that game like it was a half born featus, and laugh while they do it.
The GCW was pretty darn pointless long before the CU, hence it's dwindling participation pre-CU, and is marginally less pointless afterward wholy due to the planetary control system.
Most crafting professions are still needed the same as before except for Armorsmiths.
Doctor's actually now get to focus on HEALING people and not selling buffs like those guys who used to go to county fairs selling snake oil. What a concept!!!
Chefs still get to make food which is still highly prized in PvP and other situations.
Entertainers DID largely end up doing a good impression of South Park's Mr. Slave with the introduction of the gerbil Lemmiwinks into the endothermic environment of his... you know... only they didn't enjoy it. Hopefully this will change in the near future.

Even after all this time, the people in this game can still truly astound me sometimes.
