OK Rangers I want to ask you all something. I did something this weekend I'm generally against and get annoyed at others for doing. So what is the consesus of my peers.
On Bria the Talus avian is freaking fantastic, I have crafters offering me 200cpu for it. Partially for quality and partially for slow boring hunting of it. Rasps are the highest level creature to get missions for on Talus that give avian. They are like level 14 missions.
I was on Talus, I got a single rasp songbird mission. I went and took it, easy enough they are light and dark blue to me. But I was unable to get another one no matter how long I refreshed. I didn't have any other weapons available to equip to lower my level. Unequiping any weapon only got me level 7 missions.
So I decided to wander around the city within 1000m using /areatrack. I knew there were tons of people out there, and I had a couple friends doing missions. Lots of master combat elites, so you know ppl were paying well. None the less, /areatrack doesn't differentiate from mission lairs to non mission lairs. See where I'm going? If I found a lair, and no one was there, even it was a mission lair type, I would start to work. I did find about as many natural lairs, and I would kill any other wild life to help let more things spawn naturally.
If there were someone at the lair, I just hit track again and moved along. No biggie. Only once did someone come along while I was working on a mission lair and say it was there mission. I appologized and moved along, no problem. So basically I was mission stealing. But in that time, when I started after my friend with novice scout MBH, and not doing missions, I surpassed him greatly in my harvest. I was using Vaghash. It was a little slower then taking missions, but to be honest I had fun, never going into town, and just using my actual rangers skills.
It was again, very frustraiting that I can't missions of any type. I also found out that Talus has Devil Gulginaw that have about 53 avian per for me. They are low level, blue to me, but even grouped with one other, we could not get missions for them. I found maybea handful of them. I was using the tools my profession has to hunt, which is basically what my profession is. I did not jump in on a lair already being worked, and the one time someone came along at a mission lair I left it for them. My BH friend gave me some grief for mission stealing. I told him, "you have your BH skills and tools that you use to hunt jedi. You use gtef against them, and your droids, and all your weapons and specials. How is it truely different?"
How do you all feel about this situation? Have you done something like this? How can we fix this and make it better, game wise?

A safer way to do this is work out of Nashal. Very few people go to Nashal and that way you can be more assured that you are not mission stealing.
As frustrating as it is to not be able to get missions (been there with Talus avian), imagine how frustrated you would be if you did get missions, and then found that they had all been drained by other players? It sounds like you were very polite about it, still, after a few hours of frustrating rasp hunting I would be ready to chew nails if i found anyone taking my lairs.
Ironically my Bria character is logged out on Talus... maybe I should do some.. oh. Rasps huh? Hmmm. I hate rasps. Maybe I'll do some fearful fynock hunting!

Luckily, being very well prepared, I had a low level weapon to equip and I could consistantly get missions.. a friend of mine who was halfway up the TK profession had to go buy a stone knife to equip to get missions...
and that talus avian has bumped up to 300 cpu for a couple docs.. I do know that it jumped my buffpacks 300 points..
thems good stuff and I am heading back tonight..

But then are less mission lairs to steal Paks. hehehe JK.
I think I need to get me a rifle or carbine or something like that. Something I only have novice marksman for.

I saw master commandos, master TK, master doctors, master BH's, master pikemen and master rangers out hunting this stuff yesterday... we are desperate for good avian apparantly
I am going back tonight and not telling teranus where I am hunting.. he tried to steal on of MY lairs too...

Part of being a Ranger is to know your planet
. Nashel is the right place, go north among those paths up there. Giganaw for avian and Dalyrake for insect. I don't bother with missions there, it's considered a starter planet and for some silly reason all missions are scaled down.

I am Master Carbs/Master BH and fully capped I can convert and get 140k fs xp. You should get the same if you cap Rifles, Carbs, Pistols and Combat. That means you have a little less than 6 times you need to fully cap to finish out your last 2 boxes in your sixth line. You should be able to easily cap once a night meaning you will be done in about a week.
