We have a guild member that had this same issue. He couldn't get the commander to follow.

We tried everything but no luck. The next day we tried again. With no luck. We went to a new base, gave him the remote and he got the same "you can't do this" message.

We told him to create a ticket on it but I don't think it was answered yet as it was a few days ago. I would stick to beta and mu as they seem to be fairly easy of a walk back to the village.

PROBLEM #1

Going Solo: (Master Fencer / Master Doctor)

I have 2 Sheild Generators for Omikron (3rd Farthest base)

I take down the turrets with my rifle and droid

I take down shields - Sith Spawn - I pull with my rifle (the Sith argo Spiders)

I kill 5 Sith along with spiders (I ignore the respawns of the other Sith they don't bother with me)

Knock down the gates

The Commander Spawns

I pull up the radial dial on the commander...I have 2 choices "Examine" or "Capture" I select Capture...start walking...the commander is not following.

Radial Dial again only 2 choices again I keep choosing "Capture" over and over and over again...nothing happens, Imust have brought up the radial dial 30 times, I always get 2 choices and the Commander never moves..

Spiders come in and Argo...I died...I quit...

PROBLEM #2

4 Hours Later:

With a Partner

I still have 1 more Sheild Generator for Omikron left

We take down the turrets (there are no creatures around, this will be easier this time)

I go to take down the shield

I select from my inventory my leftover Omikron Sheild Generator

I select "USE" (or whatever that choice is)

The Following shows up or words to the effect:

"You Do Not have the capability to use that Remote model" or something close to that.

HUH???

My partner and I tried all kinds of things

Ungrouped to try it solo...NO

Regroup go back to the Captain, select the take down sheilds...NO

Make me group leader...NO

Nothing I tried worked...

Omikron is not spelled wrong on my inventory item!!!! This IS the correct item to take down the sheild!!!

Sent a BUG..no response...yet

I still have the Omikron Sheild Generator in my inventory...

Help!!!

When you capture him, you need to wait about 30 seconds and an option appears "Follow Me" when you do that he will indeed follow you. be sure to use the "Follow Me" VERY VERY VERY OFTEN.

Also: Why are you doing one of the furthest bases, this quest sucks enough as it is, it would be far easier to just keep killing sith until you get the shield freq. for a closer base.

I did wait and the option never appeared. If it happens again perhaps I will try to wait longer.

I looted 30 shield freqs...I got 2 of that one base...and none for bases closer...and as I mentioned the 2nd one didn't work...

NOW I CAN'T EVEN TURN IN REMOTE FREQs. I went and got 5 more remote freqs and the Captain won't change them to sheild generators!

The commander suffer the knckdown recovery bug issue, basicaly if try to capture him to many times you cant capture him. He suffers high lag too. What you should of done was hit capture then waited till the follow me comand was made. Then you can spam follow me and make him walk up hills. Easy meathode for that have one person walk you follow that person and spam ` 2 and he will walk up any hills not fast but he will walk up them. For your quest it is now bugged and you lost your three weeks unless you fix it. Procrastination of this phases quest versus it getting fixed was your real issue. Contact a CSR and see what they can do. Hope and pray they can do some type of easy fix. For all others reading this also a note dont group with a pet that cuases this type of bug and dont multi capture him. PETS droids included can bug this mish, not always but can. Your droid was probaly in your group when you did the mish and he needed to get 5 kills technically to capture the commander. Servers screw up if you hit an action to many times before the first action was qued which is why you cant kncokdown recovery while knocked down, dont double hit. Simply put do not group with pets and do not hit capture twice. If you hit capture and it does not change right away wait and look again a few seconds later. I think it will also cause a timer bug if you try to multi capture him at start making time drop by a few minutes but im not totaly sure on that one.

ohh further note if you are on Ahazi server not sure if that is the third farthest base but i have 5 other shield things and one is omikron you can have contact Wakow.

I can say I did not procrastinate. I do not play 24/7 either. In 3 weeks I have tried to capture the commander 7 times. I collected over 50 frequency remote data disks, only to have 1 for Iota (closest on Corbantis), 1 for Beta (2nd) and 2 for Omikron (3rd) all the rest were for other forts ( I had like 8 for Sigma). Now I have more freq remotes and the Captain doesn't even ask for them now. All I get now is the response to say "What is it I am supposed to do?"

Try deleting all the remotes that you dont need. Their might be some sort of cap as to how many remotes you can have. I would suggest using the one for the closest base which is iota. Me and a guild member did it just the 2 of monday night. We had about 2 minutes to spare but we got it done.
