Thread: Phase 3 Melee Accuracy mission....need help

I could help you with this easy quest
uh, it wasnt easy, i tried doing this last night, helping a guildmate.
originally i was going to do range def first, but decided to go ahead since i was helping him.
he knew a little bit about it and he thought he needed a group, so there were 2 others with us, making 4 total.
we find the base we need, he drops the shield, we take out the turrets, and as soon as the door is destroyed, 15 sith spawn.
15 sith x 50k ham with 85% resists to most everything is not easy.
everyone died except me, i barely got a feign in.
i waited about 10 minutes for the sith to move away so i could burst run the hell outta dodge, and watch the spawns randomly go up and down between 5-20 sith.
i dont see how anyone could do this with just 2 people, let alone solo.
since my friend dropped the shield he thinks that he has failed the mission and is only able to capture the sith now in order to pass. is this correct, or can you try as many times as you want?

if i drop the shields, then die and my mate doesnt capture the leader and get it escorted back, am i screwed for this phase?
do i now have to let my mate be the shield person and i the escort person or does it matter?
can i try this as many times as needed until i complete it or the phase shifts, whichever comes first?

Just did this this past weekend, on Saturday. It was a 6 hour ordeal. Most of which was finding a remote to a base near Aurilia.
And yes, this go-around, this quest is HARD. As a friend since Launch said, the hardest thing he's ever done in-game.
If your friend dropped the shield, he may have failed the quest. But, all you need to do (if you even have to do this) is go back and talk to Capt. Sarguillo in Aurilia. Your friend takes the shield dropper spot again, and you take the capture spot. You can just redo it. After we failed our first, we didn't know what to do. So, we just went back and talked to the Capt. about the mission and selected our parts again.
The Sith Thug spawns were STUPID. I bugged it in-game. They're impossible to beat, just impossible. 85% resists and 50k HAM, and they hit like mofos. Our group got slaughtered the first attempt. We got slaughtered the 2nd time, but luckily the shield take-down person ran outta there, and slowly pulled 1 Thug at a time off, killed him, and then when 5 were killed the Commander spawned.
The surviving group members then got the aggro off me, of the 7 (yes, SEVEN) Thugs that never despawned after the Commander appeared. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
We got the Commander back to Aurilia, and questioned how we even managed to do it.
Here is my suggestions from experience with this mission:
1. FORGET about past experiences with this quest. Things have changed for the worse. Once the shield drops, Thugs now spawn at an ALARMING rate. 5 Thugs about every 30 seconds. You won't really have damaged the first Thug before you have 5 more on you, then 5 more, then 5 more. I counted anywhere from 20 to 30 Thugs enveloping my group at one time (observing all from hiding behind the base, i was the commander capturer).
2. Group with your quest buddy, talk to the Captain, and take your quest and select whether you want to take down the shields, or capture the commander. One of you must take the shields down, the other must capture the commander, to get the group reward of a mind buff crystal.
2. Get a remote frequency disk from any Sith shadow or pirate. Get several. They're around various bases. Ride around Aurilia to find nearby bases, and the shadow/pirate patrols nearby. Write down the name on the MSE Surveillance droids around the base (zed, beta, epsilon, etc.) and forget the Thugs, not really worth the time to kill when looking for frequency disks. When you get a batch of 2 or 3, go talk to the Captain and change the disks into remotes. Look for a remote with a name on it corresponding to the closest bases near Aurilia. Don't bother with the 10k walk, just keep going until you get a remote for a nearby base. My walk was all of 2240m. And that still took some time to do, but I'd rather take the short walk to Aurilia and spend more time hunting for the "right" remote - it really helps.
Waypoint disks that you loot will generate a waypoint to a base. Use them in Aurilia, to see which are closest. You have to go to the base to see it's name (zed, beta, alpha, etc.). Delete those that are too far away (more than 3000-4000m). Don't even bother looking for their names, just keep going for remotes and waypoints until you find a match close to Aurilia.
3. With the shield take-down person having the remote (trade it to them, if necessary), head to the base. Have only the 2 people doing the quest in one group. This did NOT, I repeat NOT, help with the insane Thug spawning, but it's easier to know where each other are. I think it helps more when you're walking the Commander back, as we had hardly any sith pirate/shadow/thug spawns on the way back.
4. When at the base, position the capture person at the point made by the base - the corner opposite the entrance gate. Have a Rifleman take out the 2 front turrets, then the Shield take-down person drops the shields, and the Rifleman takes out the main gate and the turret inside. The Thugs will spawn. Have the shield take-down person, as well as your support group, LURE the initial 5 Thug wave AWAY from the base. If you don't, you will get OVERRUN with 20-30 Thugs, I kid you not. You can't kill them fast enough. Spawns of 5 Thugs were happening around every 30 seconds. It was insanity. Get that first wave away from the base, to work on them. Only Thugs killed (or at least hit by, I SUSPECT) the Shield Take-down person (or anyone in the quest takers' group, which with my plan will be just the capturer and the shield take-downer) will count towards the 5 to make the Commander spawn. Keep the shield take-down person alive at all costs, if they DO die - make sure they DO NOT CLONE until after the commander is captured. Don't clone, or the capturer will get the message "Only the shield take-down person can capture the commander, or you need to be in their group." We found this out the hard way. This effectively defeats the ability to get the group reward, as that requires one person to take down the shield, and a different person to capture the commander.
5. Once the commander capturer sees a break in the Thugs (at any time, while the group is dealing with Thugs), RUN into the base, towards the back, and start working on destroying the inner gate. Keep your overhead map on, you'll need it to watch those Thugs. You may want to have an escort into the base, in case you need help with the gate (takes awhile, not too hard) or in case a Thug aggros you, have the other person attack em, then peace out, and the other person runs outside the base with the Thug following them.
6. Inner gate destroyed, move towards the tent in the middle of the base. Target the Antenna and destroy it - it's easy. Get inside the tent and wait for the Commander to spawn. Watch your overhead map, watch the Thugs. When the Commander spawns, have the surviving group members prepare to move in and protect you! Select radial menu option 2 "Capture!" on the Commander, and you're (almost) home-free. Watch the Thugs on your overhead map - they'll start to despawn. When most (or maybe all) are gone, get that Commander outta there. Have your support group draw aggro off of you, if you get aggro'd. The Peace button is your friend. Have the rest remain in front of you, watching for beasties or siths who spawn in your path. Let them do their work, drawing stuff off of you or killing what's in your way, but keep moving.
7. Keep the Commander targetted! Click on him, so you see his name in the upper right of your screen (or wherever your current target UI is located). Periodically hit ~ and 2 (selects Capture! from his radial menu) in case he gets any ideas about running away. Watch his distance, if he gets 30m away or so, STOP, and wait for him. Always keep him as close as possible. Typically he was 16m back during the walk. Any further, let him catch up. But, keep moving. You have 1 hour to return him to Aurilia starting immediately after he spawns. Do your best to get him outta the base ASAP when he spawns, and you should have plenty of time. Keep an eye on him, and recapture if necessary.
8. Get back to the village, and head towards the "Return the commander" waypoint - and you're done.
9. Ponder (like we did) how this Quest deserves to be one of the most difficult things to do in this game, with Thugs that are equivalent (almost) to DWB enemies, or uber Corvette MOBs.
In the end, it's very rewarding to complete it, but for all the effort, the necessary group size, and the dying,AND the time commitment to it - only 2 people get the Quest completed. I think that sucks.
Good luck and I hope all of this helps someone out there.

You don't have to choose which spot you're taking when you talk to the Captain. I ended the conversation with him when he was going to tell me about the things to do, as I already knew what had to be done. I did not select any position, and I grouped with someone who took down the shields while I escorted the commander back, and we both got the quest completed.

Great advice...but one question.
If you accept with a friend, can you complete the quest with anotherfriend that did not accept quest at same time and still get the mind buff crystal?
I would recommend getting into a group with the person you want to do the Quest with, and THEN talking to the Captain again. Both of you select your respective roles, then go do the quest. That way there's no confusion about whether both will get the rewards. Make sure you're both grouped together, obviously.
