Thread: Aaargh! Confusing, is the Force!

after rereading your post it seems you want to know what profs will give you free unlocks, that system is gone... only the ones truley with the force(hella, hella, hella luck)... or allied with soe...or the oldies, get such gifts. Theres no way of knowing if you will have unlocks or not before starting the system, unless you did the holo-grind system back in the day... *sigh*

ok first find out if you have any free unlocks. If you wern't a participant in the holo-grind system, chances are you don't.
second about the 6 branches... the way I've came to look at it is "sets". You have the combat set, reflex set, etc. Each one of these sets have 4 branches. You need 6 to complete the village.
Now it gets confusing.
You can only unlock one branch every 3 weeks (or phase). There's 4 phases. So to complete the village the quickest (not being concerned with the skills, and with no free unlocks,) you have to go through every phase, and then repeat the first two phases of when you started.
better example, start at phase one. grab a branch. grab a branch at P2, grab at p3, grab at p4, then another again at p1, then again at p2.
So in 18 weeks of grinding, you'll have completed the village.
If you have free unlocks, hooah to you.
And the guide previously posted and the stickies at the top of the fourm are good, confusing at first, but just stare at it for a few minutes and eventually it'll sink it....and don't skip around in them if you don't understand.. you'll only get more lost, make more posts, and the irritable children with no patience will redirect you back to the thread to only further confuse you.

That's a really really long time...But I'm up for it! Anyway so you say there's no way to tell what your professions were that you needed to grind? I did infact participate in the hologrind, but only achieved 11.352325125754 professions. EVERY holocron that was opened was not silent, saying I got at least 4 of my needed professions so I have at least 2 free branches, right? And how do I do this? I unlock the branch and it gives me all 4 boxes or what? Thanks

Each free unlock will allow you to train up the 4 boxes of the skill you chose to unlock. (My advise is that if you are totally combat-oriented and want senses or crafting fs skills, use your free boxes to train those instead of dropping combat skills to grind medical crafting, dancing etc). It will save you a lot of the time. IE: If you have 4/x/x/x scout, it will take you at least 160 trips to the village to get 4 boxes). I was tkm/master fencer and would max both in 2 hours (gurks) and have 180k combat. Each visit would net me 120k fs xp. I luckily got 3 free tree unlocks (12 boxes) from grinding 10 professions. It took me exactly 90 days to finish the other 12 boxes. I didn't grind daily until my last 4 fs boxes. I finished them in less than a week with 2 combat professions to cap xp on. Hope this helps.

Ok, ok.. Two things I wish to know right now. I read in the FAQ that the free unlock is 'Accomplished required professions' -2 equals the amount of free branches. How do I know what professions would have let me unlock so I KNOW what I get? And branches..What are they? O.o There's 6 branches but what 6 branches? There's usually only 4 in a skill tree. I completed at least all of my holocrons so I get at least 2 branches. What does this mean?

In other words...
Of these, you must pick six. For those who have free unlocks, the next part is important:
Imagineyou want Combat Prowess: Ranged Accuracy, Melee Speed, Melee Accuracy, Ranged Speed, Enhanced Reflexes: Ranged Defence, Melee Defence.
You must bear in mind that YOU CAN ONLY DO ONE QUEST PER PHASE!
With this in mind, plan out what comes first in the list. For the above skills selected, my template is kinda like this:
Village Phase 1: Combat Prowess: Ranged Accuracy
Village Phase 2:Combat Prowess: Melee Speed
Village Phase 3: Combat Prowess: Melee Accuracy
Village Phase 3: Enhanced Reflexes: Ranged Defense
Village Phase 4: Enhanced Reflexes: Melee Defense
Village Phase 4: Combat Prowess: Ranged Speed
Now, you can see here that I have two in Phase 3, and two in Phase 4. If I had no unlocks, I would have pick one of the Phase 3 skills and one of the Phase 4 skills to unlock through the quests, and then wait a FULL CYCLE before I could do the second skill in Phase 3, and then the second in Phase 4, delaying my Jedi Initiate by up to 12 weeks.
I would have to train in this order:
Week 1: Village Phase 1: Combat Prowess: Ranged Accuracy
Week 4: Village Phase 2:Combat Prowess: Melee Speed
Week 7: Village Phase 3: Combat Prowess: Melee Accuracy
Week10: Village Phase 4: Enhanced Reflexes: Melee Defense
Week 13: Village Phase 1: Nothing I desire available
Week 16: Village Phase 2:Nothing I desire available
Week 19: Village Phase 3: Enhanced Reflexes: Ranged Defense
Week 22: Village Phase 4: Combat Prowess: Ranged Speed
However, if you are clever, you can use your free unlocks to reduce your waiting time. Imagine I have two free unlocks.First unlock would go on the last skill you would train, Combat Prowess: Ranged Speed,and thesecond unlock would be used forEnhanced Reflexes: Ranged Defense. This immediately means that the last skill you need to unlock by waiting for the normal village cycle and performing the relevant quest would be:
Week 10: Village Phase 4: Enhanced Reflexes: Melee Defense
Now I am finished on week 10, instead of week 22, all by careful planning of what skills I need, and what order to use my free unlocks.
To get a free unlock, you must talk to Paemos, who offers any free unlocks you might have. He will unlock the branch of your choice, and allocate enough xp to master that branch. Training is provided by Noldan.
Remember: Unlock ONE free branch at a time, train it, then return for another free branch.
Once you have attained your free unlocks, it's time to do the quests relevant to the other branches you want to do as part of the six required to move on to Jedi Initiate. Personally, I would do all of the quests, as there are some cool rewards.
