Am I alone in getting just a smidgy bit panicky about this rumour of no Village unlocks post-CU? How are those of us who are still working our way up the FS trees going to unlock? If we're going to be allowed to unlock at all...

This was something I heard just last night... I was under the impression that what you guys have said was right, but my concern is that if this is something new that has strategically not been mentioned yet (a'la Armoursmith experimentation changes), it's quite conceivable that we're *all* still in the dark and this *is* going to be the case....
Any chance of getting a response from someone in the know? (probably not)

i'll have you know that i am very much in the know. i'm pretty sure that if something as big as removing the village and implementing a new system was being done, then it might have been on TC by now to test it out. there is only about 2 weeks left until the predicted release of CU. whoever told you the village is ending is more than likely just making things up to get attention

I see what you're saying, and believe me, I'm trying to be as pro-CU as I can (ask my guild - I'm very much in the minority there!). With all due respect though, the AS changes were (so far as I've been told) released to TC without anyone except staff knowing them beforehand, only approximately 3-4 weeks before the "release date" (I put it in "'s because I for one don't think CU will come out with ROTW). Since past events are the only basis we have to go on, I'll continue holding my breath about unlocking arrangements after CU (and continue xp'ing like mad as soon as I'm released from work...)

*sniff*sniff* What's that smell? I detect the distinct odor of baseless rumor.
I can picture the scene. 'Person A' rightfully upset about some of the changes in the CU, overstating how it's "going to be impossible" to do the village quests and FS grind. Then 'Person B' takes them literally and bad info spreads from there.

So what's that daft thing in your sig that all the other "resistant to change" players have then?

Daft? What's daft about balancing the current system? Level based damage multipliers, homogenizing combat proffesions and magic special effects tied to every action is not preferable to what was originally proposed for the CU.

As Don_T_Shoot quite rightly pointed out, there is a vast difference between being pro-upgrade to the combat system (i.e. pro-balancing of the existing system), and being anti-change altogether. I fall into the first group, as my signature shows
