I know how this quest and the rewards work, but I have a question.

Solo -I drop the shields and rescue the commanger to get the color crystal.

Grouped -I drop the shields,my groupmate rescues the commander,we both get the color crystal and the mind crystal.

Now my question, what happens if....

1. I drop the shields.

2. I capture the commander.

3. I hand the commander off to my groupedpartner (outside the sith base).

4. My partner then turns the commander in to Captain Saggy.

Do we qualify for the GROUP unlock/reward?

Don't worry about the how's and why's, just know that we'd like to do it this way.

How do you hand off the commander again? I passed this quest, but I ran the Commander all the way back myself...

Good question. I was under the impression that, once captured, the other person could run up to the commander and use "capture" from the radial menu, but I could be wrong.

If nothing else; I could capture & lead the Commander near the village, then I die. At that point my partner captures the commander, then I rez (hero ring) and we enter the village together.

or you could let the sith that attack on the way take the commander, and have your friend recapture him, but be warned, this decreases the time that the commander to die of the toxins

Dont think it works.

I was in a group with two people trying to do the quest.

Person A dropped the shields, Person B captured commander.

Person B died on the way back to the village so Person A 'recaptured' the commander

Person B could not recapture commander from Person A via the radial menu.

Guess you would have to sacrifice yourself if you wanted to pass the commander to someone else.

I dont know if you would still get the credit of capturing the commander though

i dont know if it is possible to swap the commander over half way there, and i dont know if i would risk dying half way there. why not just have your partner run into the base and capture the commander themself? you can get in and out without taking a single hit if you time it correctly and have people to distract the sith on your way out

He's a low level paddy so he'd rather not risk dying. We'll probably just give it a try the traditional duo way, I'm sure he won't die...*evil laugh*.

If you read the quest description, it says the conditions for group completion are one player drops shields, the other player captures. I think what would likely happen is this: First players drops shields, first player captures, and this forces the mission to "solo" mode. Second player tries to capture but can't. First player gets credit, second does not.

Yeah, I think that's what happens as well. I was simply hoping that if the other player "captured" him after I died, that would count. Eh, it's not worth it to find out I guess.

Thanks for the replies.
