It's day 4 of me trying to do this quest, and I have been on for atleast 8+ hours every day. I have tried at all of the further camps, with a jedi knight, and we couldn't even get 3k m before he died, even though nobody was close, and it was only 25 minutes through. So today, I get on at 2:00 pm, and see someone who has the alpha remote. We group, and go there, and there is a line. We wait in the line of 3 people for 6 hours, then someone steals the next person in line's commander, then we wait another 2 hours for the people in front of us. So after a total of 10 hours waiting, helping 3 groups, 4 days total, and bringing 4 friends to help me and the other guy (only CL 47), it's our turn. We start fighting, and everyone gets slaughtered but me, and i am rezzing everyone, including the CL 47 (about 5-10 times...). Then, another group comes and tries tocut in line and steal the commander, but I tell them to get in line, and to back off, some do, some don't. They get to the inner wall, and then die. My group got in, and then sith spawn, so we all go to attack them, and the CL 47 (who killed 5 sith, and used the remote, so was going to get credit) RUNS IN AND STEALS THE COMMANDER FROM ME! I was waiting with him, I brought a group of CL 80 friends to help him in protection and killing 5, I made sure he got credit, I fended off the other groups, and he steals it from me... I have no clue what I'm going to do, I know this sounds kinda harsh, but I may cancel my subscription for now. I was kind of contemplating it before, solely because of the community around me, but this was really low, considering I did alot for this guy.
Sorry for my rant, but I felt the need to get this off my chest.

I'm really sorry to hear this man, this quest was a REALLY big pain Pre-CU, and apprently still very much is Post CU. THe escort glitch is causing people to camp the cloest bases since thier the only ones close enough to finish before the commander dies. give me a few minutes and I'll write up everything I know about this quest.

Ok, never be a group bigger then 2. Base spawns 5 Sith Thugs per group memeber. Doesn't mean you can't have additonal back-up, but don't group them. Just group with the person who you want to finish the quest with. (since the Mind Crystal is still bugged you might consdiering skipping the 2nd person part of the quest and go it alone) Since these bases are always camped, the turrets should be already gone, so here's what I'd do, worked Pre-Cu. If you're going to do two person thing, have one of you drop the shield while the other one charges into the base. There's a very short grace period before any Sith Thugs spawn. Once inside, tell him to stay there in the back, where the Sith won't aggro him. Pick off the 5 Sith Thugs outside and the commander will spawn. Your friend will be in place to capture him, after which the Sith Thugs wil all despawn after about a minute. Then it's the long walk back to the village. Check the bazzar for more Shield Codes and remotes, I sold all mine after I finished the quest since I didn't need them. I REALLY sorry you got cheated the way you did. Aslo I don't think that other group knew what thier doing, I'm failry certain a Sith Commander can only be captured by either the person who dropped the shields, or a memeber of his group with the same quest.

Actually, I told them I had been waiting in line for 10 hours, and that there was a line over in front of the base, and to stop the seige for the commander. They went into a hissy fit, and then went after the base again. But I still can't believe what my groupmate did... He didn't help with ANYTHING, I was trying to be nice, and let him get the quest reward too. He actually caused 3 of my friends to leave the group, because he just starting talking smack, for no reason at all, and it escaladed.

almost had this problem when i did this quest i know the shield guy gets a message that he faild if he dies so that is what may have happened the message is wrong if you guys are grouped and but he may have not known that some people are jerks so dont let them get you to quit. just keep hangin in there.

And now for the all important question...
How did your CL 47 partner deal with the ambushes on the way back to the village? Being CL 47, one would assume that the ambush piratesor other high lvl mob's/npc'swould have torn him apart and basically prevented him from getting the commander back safely. That is, unless someone from your group helped him get the commander back by intercepting the sith ambushes and any other mobs/npcs that spawned along the way.

I dunno what happened, I think one of my friends stuck with him, but the commander died, so he pretty much stole him for nothing.

I would have laughed my butt off if the commander died after he did that. Oh and I do believe there would have been a fight in guild chat if one of my "friends" had offered to help the butt head take the commander back to the village. Especially if the "friend" knew that the guy just stole the commander from meandprevented me from completing the mission. This is exactly why I only run missions with people I know and trust. New players be damned. IfI do not know you, I do not help you unless I have absolutely nothing else to do.

One simple fix for this quest is to simply deactivate the posion code on the captured commander. As it stands the two/three bases close to the village on almost every server currently on phase 3 is absolutely camped, frustrating many (including me). Why they dont do this is beyond me, but then again, Im not in charge.

Its painful to hear your story. Maybe take a small break from the game but I wouldnt cancel your subscription; and if you do cancel make sure SOE understands why. Please don't just fade out of existence.

Better yet, how about make it so he automatically accepts vehicle invitations? Seriously, who in their right mind wouldn't use a vehicle to transport a prisoner?
