I just killed the 2 sith shadows. After looting the datapad I tried to open it and it won't let me. Says i have to loot it first before
I can use it. Has anyone else had this problem? and if so, how did you get around it. Thanks for any help.

Man, if ever a question needed to get into the current FAQ....!
There's a couple possibilities. The most likely is that you might have looted one of the Sith before killing the other. Both Sith need to be dead before you loot. Then when you loot you should be able to use the datapad.
Someone else recently mentioned that he'd gone AFK for a few minutes, in which the ambush came and got him, and took his crystal-but the Sith didn't exactly move far, so he killed them when he came back, thus getting the same result you did.
Rest assured, the Old Man and/or the Shadows will come again to "initiate" you into Force Sensitivity....

When I got the aforementioned error msg, I just put the waypoint datapad in safety deposit in my bank....That triggered the quest update & I could use the datapad....

p.s. A couple of times I thought I was bugged, but everything worked itself out, just remember that if you get incapped they take the crystal, so killing them after you get up doesn't count.... Must get revisited by old man, and then kill the first 2 sith w/o getting KO'd

It took me 15 times to get this right.
A. they can't incap you or they take your crystal and the waypoint data will be unreadable
B. Don't disband the party your in until AFTER you use the waypoint data this will sometimes bug it also
C. count to ten before looting after they die. The server often considers one of them still alive even though they are dead on everyone's clients
What I did the last time was I waited for the old man then played my game session like normal then logged out in a major NPC city. Then the next day when I logged in I pulled together a group in the city and walk to the 200m range and they are always will show up within a minute. Make sure to warn the lowbies to stay away before spawning them because they might want to help and get killed or worse case help too much and bork your kills.
