Thread: free unlocks vs fs xp grind...

ive read 90% of the reviews 90% of the way through and have this one questions .. btw ... the reviews are AWESOME ... thanks guys ...
ok .. so ... i did 2 holo's and was working on my 3rd when i quit .. i have now come back and plan on getting jedi ... i read that it is the number of your secret profs - 2 ... there are 8 secret profs -2 = 6 fs skills
im wondering if it is still faster to grind profs to get free unlocks than it is to fs xp grind and do the quests .... am i right that you do not have to do the quests for the free unlocks? .. plz discuss as everyone's input is valid here as this is sheer speculation

grinding profs won't do anything now
The credit was for professions mastered PRE pub 10 (or whatever number the jedi revamp was.
So you would need to have done 3 of your secret profesions just to get 1 branch unlocked.
Looks like XP grinding friend - good luck

Well your right and wrong. If you did the hologrinding before pub 10, then you will get a max of 2 unlocks (if even that) but as far as I know you don't get the branch. You still have to grind, you just get to unlock any 2 branches without waiting for the 3 week phase change. Grinding is a must.

Free unlock = all the xp to fill 1 branch in the tree of your choice. Check how many unlocks you get free, then plan around those as to what skills you will be picking up 
Also, i got 4 free unlocks and after training my free branches i had a lil xp left over, so if u want to get a head start on one branch, unlock a branch in the same tree as another u plan on phase quest unlocking

Getting the free unlock does 2 things.. 1. Unlocks the branch and 2. gives you enough XP to fill up to 3 and 3/4ths a boxes. So there is grinding involved in them just not as much as your talking about and it doesnt fill it up all the way..I know, I got my 2 free unlocks.

funny..... i got all the xp needed to fill the entire branch. i used 3 free unlocks and all 3 of them were able to train right up to the tier 4 box. and i started with 0 FS xp in that category of skills too, so it wasn't leftover xp.

so its a guarantee that if i dont have any free unlocks as of the quest change i cant get anymore thru prof grinding? ... i think i may test this out by checking before and after i grind commando ... as it was my 3rd holo=1 free unlock ... gah ... not fun

you will not gain any free unlocks at this point no matter what you do. the free unlocks were only in place to reward people who were close to unlocking a jedi in the old holocron system, and finished those holos prior to publish 9. (9 or 10, i can't remember) you can go out and master every profession in the game at this point and there will still be 6 empty FS branches staring at you when you get to the village.
even if it were still in effect, the scenario you explained about commando being your 3rd holo would still not give you an unlock. the unlocks are based on SILENT, or secret holo's completed. if you cracked a holocron and it told you a prof to master it wouldn't really have helped you aside from getting you closer to the silent.

Free unlocks gave me all branches and all XP not 3 3/4 or something but all, and just pre 10 holocredit dont exist anymore
