Thread: OMFG!!! Tooooo close for comfort!!!!

Wow.... I just finished Phase 3 Melee Accuracy quest but boy was it down to the wire. Walking him back and the server shutdown thing appears.... I was like DOH we will never make it. Made it past the gate of the village with 1 minute left and kept walking praying for the mission complete message. With about 30 seconds to spare the completed mission message pops and I finally breathe again......

Ohhh neeeat... my message board name changed color tonite i am like a puke orange now.... sweet!

Two years and over 400 posts. Very nice. i only have 389 to go. or another 6 months or so

I rarely post unless something crazy happens or I am really really bored at work. heh

I unlocked my last tree yesterday on this quest and I'll tell you, I had the worst tension headache by the time I made it back to the village. I was able to take the mission from the second closest base on Lowca, about 3k from the village. Commander turned around on me around 6 times as I was walking back and I was convinced I was going to fail the mission. When I broke the village barrier, I started sprinting and walking to get closer to the objective and then to let the commander catch up again. As I got closer to the village gate I already had /targ capt in my chat ready to hit enter and my finger poised over the burtst run hotkey but even before i needed to do that I received the quest completed message and when I talked with the captain, he let me know that I had done enough. Looked in my inventory and 2 lovely crystals were there waiting for me, and more importantly, my final unlock was finished.
Some observations, taking bases any more than 4k from the village is at the risk of the quest taker. Tried one that was 6k away and only made it 4.3k before the commander took the dirt nap and that was over mostly flat land. One thing I did when I completed the quest was to constantly use the radial menu to tell the commander to follow me even when he already was. Not sure if it helped deter him from stopping along the way, but even with 6 stops, he still made it and I think I had about 15-20 minutes to spare (assuming a 1 hour timer).
Waiting for my second old man visit, exit quest, and padawan trials but for all intents and purposes, my village days are over.
