I recently did some math regarding the new xp system.
If you manage to achieve 150k of xp per hour (a fair rate per hourin the new system, which would be equivilent to 1.2million weapons xp pre xp-bork) It will take you approximently 1390 hours of straight non-stop grinding to achieve padiwan status from a full template.
1390 hours.
Take it in....let it sit there for a few moments.
Its only 10 hours shy of 2 full months. Now 1390 is just grinding, does not include load up times, buffing, shopping, conversing with friends or going to convert.
If your a casual gamer and manage to grind (actually acquire xp) for a hour and a half a night, it will take you 231 days to achieve padi status.
Thats the Grim Reality.
Any of you players who have already unlocked jedi, please do not post and flame other players who are geniunely disgruntled. I have been playing since the first month of swg, and these players have it far worse then we ever did.
Even in the old system with a melee template you could easily max out in all xp in 2 hours (fencer +swordsman+tka+combat). Same with ranged, although it took a little longer. That would have earned you 190k fs xp, taking 5 or six trips to the fs village to complete your tree. 10-12 hours for a tree, 60-72 hours for padiwan.
Pre-Cu 72 hours (if done correctly, thats not even including the commando grenade exploit which would have cut your time to 1/9)
Post Cu Xp Bork 1390 hours
Difference = 19x longer grind.
It was bad enough when the SWG developers tried to contain the jedi explosion by upping the number of secret holo professions from 1 to 5, leaving the majority of people grinding out 30+ professions, without unlocking. Even then when most people got close, they went to the FS village construct, where those people had more grinding to do.
Jedi is literally the carrot they wave infront of your faces, to keep you playing and paying. It is the only class to cause this much trouble for regular players, who recieve nerfs, and changes to thier abilities to because of the negative effect jedi has. If you want a close look at how much trouble this profession has caused take a short walk over to the Galactic Civil War forum, where it is of common belief that Jedi have ruined one of the Major Aspects of this game which is the war between rebels and imperials.
I feel for you people who yet to unlock, I really do. I find it absolutely disgusting that the developers thought it was a good idea to once again crush the hopes of those people who are thier paying customers.
If your internet service provider kept changing the speed of your connection, hiking rates, allowing you less and less downloads, would you still pay for thier service?
SOE pay attention to your player base, I know your not all that concerned because you think the star wars license is enough to keep people playing. You customers are how you make money, no customers no money. You have forums for every aspect of the game, with players giving you advice and sound solid ideas on how to improve the game, which is thier investment. Once again though you have failed to listen, and you will pay for it when you realized that you have lost a huge portion of your already dwindling player base.
More Content, Less Repetitive Grind....I already work for a living thank you.
