Hey I'm debating going Jedi but I read all these posts about gank squads from Bounty Hunters, and some stories about people getting ganked in cities for reasons not mentioned why. Is Jedi supposed to be a PVP role? Kind of curious about what the rules are that get you flagged for attack. If anyone knows of a good link that explains all this please post it.

Basicly the rule for Jedi is that if you equip your lightsaber, use force powers, or LS special moves (they use force power) within 32m ofANY player or NPC you gain visibility. When you gain enough visibility, you go on the BH terminals. You do not know when this happens, therefore the life of a Padawan is grinding solo for about a year against MOBs. You can't evenplay within 32m of your friends. The general rule of thumb is that if you can't harvest it (like Ewoks), it counts as an NPC and you gain vis if within 32m. Interestingly enough, if you are just fighting with your lightsaber, and don't use special moves, it doesn't use the forcebar (BTW that's your 4th HAM bar) so it doesn't cause vis.

Bounty Hunter gank squads will be a thing of the past once they remove the TEF system, as they've stated they will.
Jedi, by design, is meant to do PvP - the Force Ranking System after Jedi Knight demands this to advance. Bounty Hunters force you into PvP.
The single most important thing to do to avoid getting attacked by a Bounty Hunter is to NOT get on the BH Terminals! Find a nice, quiet place to kill animals at your level. I recommend starter planets like Tatooine, Corellia, or Naboo.
Avoid all NPC's. Scope out your mission or kill area before equipping your saber. Be aware of your surroundings. If things look suspicious, get outta there.
