I found out some information on how the visit from the old man and the subsequent attack by the Sith work.

Once you become "glowie" a random number generator creates a timer for your character.AFTER this timer expires, the first time you shuttle into a Player city, the old man will visit you with in 20 minutes. Shuttling around multiple times will NOT lower the timer, just waste credits.

After the old man visits you, another "random" timer is generated for the Sith to attack you. Same rules apply, AFTER this timer expires, the first time you shuttle into a Player city, the Sith will attack you with in 20 minutes. Shuttling around multiple times will NOT lower the timer, just waste credits.

I'm not sure where this info came from or if things have been changed.

During the play sessions when my main was visited by the old man and attacked by the Sith, I hadn't shuttled into any player cities. Heck, I didn't even shuttle to another planet. I stayed on the same planet I had logged in on and was just riding around when I was visited.

This is complete crap. Total lie.

The old man....for 9 people I know personally who all got glowie within2 hours of each other...came in 48 hours....almost to the minute.

The Sith came 24 hours later...again, almost to the minute.

This was for ALL 9 of us. 4 of the 9 changed planets afterward getting glowie. 2 or the 9 were jumping shuttle to shuttle trying to make him spawn. 1 of the 9 LOGGED off for 45 hours. The last 2 of us ground experience in our normal play times.

On the second day after getting glowie we were all together, NOT in a player city. We were well outside of any city in fact. The last city we had visited was Theed and it was in vehicles, not shuttles.

Then we started getting chain Sith spawns (Let me tell you...it is HARD to pay attention to who is speaking which name and who is supposed to loot them! We eventually spread out and it was easier to pull yours to you.)

So ignore the moron who posted the initial post...it is total crap.

Im not sure about this theory, but i do think that the timer is a possibility. Something along the lines that once you glow your visit time is determined at that point.

Shuttling around, running around, going AFK, stating in-game, logging out etc. When you get a visit while doint these things it's most likely its a co-incidence.

The only things players seem to agree on is that he wont visit you in space and NPC cities, other than that its anyones guess.

Well, I JUST got to the village a few minutes ago. to clarify that its not a definate 24/48/whatever hours till the old man or sith appear, i will tell my story

Got glowy, waited in game for 6 hours, gave up and went to sleep. within 24-36 hours (wasnt timing it, but it was about a day or day and a half) after i became glowy, i got a visit from the old man. almost missed him because i figured I'd have another day before he showed up.Enjoyed a hunt,went back to sleep. log back on 10 hours later and lo andbehold--almost 12 hours EXACTLY (maybe 13) after speaking with the old man, i shuttled to my hometown and was INSTANTLY put into battle with the sith (was getting shot atbefore i was evenloaded in). so, within 3 days, I managed to get glowy, get a visit from the old man, and be attacked by the sith. It's not 2-3 days for old man, then 2-3 days for the sith... I don't know what the system for them appearing is, however I can assure you its not going to be a 3 day wait for each. I easily managed getting all three phases within 3 days. and now, back to the village i go. Good luck to all those still having problems with the wait.

well, I do suppose the CSR could of been lying.....

But the info was true for me. The old man visited me about 15 minutes after shuttling and the sith attacked me within 5 minutes of shuttling in.

Do you have to shuttle to get the old man to visit or to get the sithto attack? i doubt it, but I was told that it will make them spawn sooner if the timer has expired.

Trying to remember what I was told, I think the old man timer is 24 - 72 hours and 12 - 48 hours for the sith.

Hmm guess the people i know that had a visit after 36 hours must of just been bugged.

I never said you had to shuttle to make them appear. Was just told that if the timer had expired and you shuttle to a player city it can/will speed up the attack. AND it does. read the other posts.

Also, you do NOT have to be in a player city, but can be. If you are out in the field you will certainly be able to get visited there. I didnt feel I needed to cover that as **most** people who read this forum are intelligent enough to have already read the sticky that covers that information...
