Thread: kinda noob question: whats the point of the free unlock? in phase 4

i was thinking how this worked. i chose melee defence as my unlock, i did the mission, and it says that i unlocked it. but whats the sigfinicance of that? couldnt you just revert combat xp into fs exp and train in novice reflexes? im just confused.

You can't train any boxes in melee defense though, even if you have the xp, without having done the quest to 'unlock' it.

You can train in Novice at anytime no need for a Unlock.
What you unlocked is the ability to train the melee defence Branch. You cannot train in any Branch unless you complete the Quest to unlock it even if you have enough FS XP.
You can only Unlock 1 branch per Phase.

was there a way to unlock both branches? i think i saw ppl stating that they were able to do this..

Negative you were given a choice on either Ranged Speed or Melee defense. The quest was the same but you unlock only one.
The ones that were stating they were able to do it were the ones able to while it was in Test Center.
