you can only get free unlocks if you mastered professions before publish 10 went live, so before august 29th 2004, and you got 1 unlock if you had 3 or more holocrons from mastering professions(i think), either way it is too late to get any free unlocks now so if you wanna see if you have any you need to talk noldon(i think) in the village and he would tell you what you can learn, also i think you need to talk to paemos to choose which one to unlock first. Anyways hope this helps you

and a free unlock is a free column of an FS skill of your choice, to answer that question

Basically if you haven't done the holo grind pre pub 10 then you likely have 0 free unlocks. Hologcrons were hints on what professions to master to unlock your jedi. If you mastered a lot of professions you may have free unlocks if you are lucky but if you don't know what the holo grind was then likely you will have to start with 0 free unlocks. Free unlocks were basically "credit towards" the new way now for those who busted their butts on the holocrons the old way.

What are Unlocks:

Basically an unlock is when you become FS you have access to the FS Skills Trees. However, you are not able to put them to use until they are unlocked and enough force sensitive experience is allocated into the block of any specific branch of the profession tree. The quest based system which we are going through now and what you will be going though unlocks these branches to apply those modifiers to your characater. Making you more atuned to the force so to speak.

Getting Free Unlocks:

If you have not master the 8 secret professions which was the method prior to publish 10 or AKA "The Jedi Revamp". You do not have any free unlocks. However, if you have mastered some of these professions they you do have free unlocks and can use them accordingly.

I was informed by a customer service rep that previous to publish 10 AKA "The Jedi Revamp". That in order to unlock these force sensitive skills you had to mastre 8 secret professions in addition to the professions that were informed of you by the holocronn were the professions that were told to you by the holocron you obtained via, NPC, purchased etc allowed you to open the FS slot on your charater but the 8 secret ones allowed you to unlock the branches of the profession tree for the FS skills.

Customer service also informed me by the way that there are a majority of people who actually didn't understad this. Including myself; therefore don't feel like your alone in this.
