Thread: Seeking advice-- first time back after CU and getting annihilated

I have 2 toons on Briathat I played with from Dec '04 through April '05. Then I left in disgust after the CU when SWG became a horrible bug-fest. But last night I finally gathered the nerve to come back and see if I can finish my FS grinds. Each toon has all the XP banked and needs only one more village quest to finish.

So my Master Swords / Master Combat Medictoondid fine. I finished half of the Search-And-Destroy-II quest from Dageerin by myself, and it looks like if I can drum up some helpwith Mellichae in a few days, I can carry him through.

But my Master Bounty Hunter / Medic 3400 / Merchant 3004 / Artisan 0044 is in a world of hurt. It took me several hours just to GET to the village, after being 1-hit slain several times by nightsisters and rancors that spawned on top of my speederbike. (I suppose that with the server populations so low, mobs are spawning for the first time everywhere I'm going). I need to wait for the Phase 4 Healing quest, because that is what I have the XP banked for. But for practice, I took the same Search-and-Destroy-II quest as my first toon.As soon as I crept up on a Sith camp, a female brackaset came over and 2-hit incapped me, even as I was spamming bacta shots and sprays. I got a few shots off but only reduced its health by about 5%.

So my question is this: do I need to re-grind my template and get to CL 80 with this second toon to have even an inkling of a chance at doing the Phase 4 Healing quest and surviving against Mellichae? Do I need to round up a full team and pay them tocarry me through everything? Will there even be enoughplayers around to form a singlegroup at the village when Phase 4 comes around? Or do I need to research what all the new equipment and food/drink are that work after the CU and optimize everything? I already have a fairly good full suit of armor (5500-6000 protection on each piece) and weapon (350dps high-cap scatter pistol). I really don't want to re-do my template, since I want to be a merchant & bounty hunter after I finish the grind, and I just don't have the extra leisure time in my life anymore for grinding. I was hoping to just spend a few hours to finish this FS thing and get my free character slots. Or am I just being a naive idiot here? (And yes, I know, if I don't like grinding then there's probably no point of even getting to Jedi Padawan... but I have my own silly reasons to get there).

I do seem to have 1 more re-spec to use, but I don't think I have enough combat skillpoints to re-spec to anything above my current CL 54.

Thanks in advance for ideas!

Welcome back.

Still buggy.

Use that respec to get as much combat as possible. Since you're already MBH, get as much carbineer, pistols, or rifles as you can. Take that medic to 0400 and aim for 4000 cm.

your cl is everything now. it determines how much damage you take from mobs, and how much damage you dish out to them. at your current cl, you won't be able to take much. grinding will be a pain.

Lately and now with the new publish, mobs are going to be hitting harder and using specials so be careful. As for your MBH, you could use your respec to get to Master Combat Medic. Most of the MBH's running around seem to like the combo of MBH/MCM with either 4 in rifles, carbines or pistols. Head over to their forum and check their templates. Good luck.

Thanks for all the tips! So what is the token respec like? Is it the same as the initial post-CU ones where you can't change non-combat professions, or can you re-allocate everything? Also, does anyone know if it's possible to start the re-spec to tinker around with it, then cancel it and maintain the token?

Level is very important. CL 80. dump the craft stuff and keep the medical , since you need it for the banked FS exp ( can never go wrong with medical to save your butt incase of an accedent).

I guess you know why now you are getting one shotted by mobs. if you are low CL, they will do thousands of points of damage vs the 100 or 80 points of damage if you were level 80. I do not think CU is buggie ( much ) . I like it. Not because I rock but because it is closer to how combat should be. Now , mastering a proffession makes you a master at combat, instead of just dabbling in diffent professions and a jack of all tradesbeing better then a master. That had to go.

I also like the fact that now you do not have to have super buffs. you save lots of money on that.

Have fun and enjoy the game. Let the force draw you back. LOL

you can completely repec your entire character any profession.

And yes you can tinker with it and then cancel it, so you can use it later.

But once comited, thats it, your template is your template.

MBH/MCM Pistoleer 0004 seems to be the hot ticket at the moment. You will get your CL 80 plus the BH mitigation and the CM debuffs AND the Jedi-hated rootshot from Pistoleer. A CL 80 is almost essential to doing anything any more especially with pub 24 increasing the difficulty of mobs. I would definitely just grind out the rest of the MBH/MCM/Pistoleer xxx4 and save the respec for later. You may want to use it later and end up kicking yourself for not saving it. future pubs will change many things and you may just want to hang on to that respec for a while.

Until next time.....
