I finally got a third sith ambush, as the other two were screwed up. I got my datapad, and lo and behold, the damn thing says I can't read it?!?
What is going on?

i belive you need to get a new crystal also from the old man over again, so destroy the crystal, get a new one, and then when you are re-ambushed get a new data pad and all should be working fine, but if you are killed by the sith you cannot read the datapad when you loot it.

My suggestion.. chill out, enjoy the game, and your time will come.
I went through around 15 sith shadow attacks before finally getting a datapad that worked.
It usually screwed up because they stole the crystal first, or I was grouped and someone else killed them, or I wasn't grouped and someone else killed them, etc. etc. etc.
So once again, my suggestion, go about your business and eventually you'll get it.
I found once I had let go of the situation, it was a lot more exciting when it finally worked out. ;')

This happened to me when I made my first Toon.
The CSR told me to delete the disk and wait for another ambush.

God do not delete the ForceCrystal there's a rumor going around that doing so bugs the entire thing beyond repair. Just make sure you aren't getting incapped at all while fighting because when they first attacked me I was grinding and the incapped me but i was mad and they were still standing there so i killed them got the datapad and it said that i couldn't read it. So i deleted it they attacked again this i killed them all without getting incapped and the d-pad worked fine. Also make sure you loot them after they are all dead.

same here but they came back to attack me then the old man revisited as they were attacking
