I'm the sort that likes to do the sightseeing and the theme parks just for fun, and I'm actually already surgey just from visiting the POIs. Now I'm doing the theme parks, currently the rebel one with Jabba and Nym already under my belt. A couple more, and I expect I may be visited by the old man. The question is, has anyone declined to guard the thingie he gives you? If so, does that completely negate any chances of doing it later? If you accept, can you just be force sensitive and not really act on it?
I've got a tough goal in mind already, going master shipwright, master smuggler, and two trees of pistoleer. If I go ahead and accept the quest from the old man, kill the sith, and become force sensitive, will I have to use up any skill points to just "be" force sensitive?

absolutley not.
In fact, even without plans to go jedi i would still recommend looking into some of the FS trees because a few of them add sweet bonuses for only using up one skill point. Plenty of non-jedi pvpers and crafters have FS enhancements.

More, even if you don't get any FS skills, you can still do the FS unlocks for the rewards, and possibly change your mind later about it. Banking XP doesn't hurt anything (unless you drop skills for some reason, possibly).

You can stop at any point along the way. you could tell the old man no... but it's unclear if he will never come back or just keep asking you. The best thing would be to say yes & go as far as getting the village waypoint... then nobody will bug you anymore until you actually go there & accept missions. At least this way you're keeping all your options open...

i suggest you just say yes kill the sith but just never head to the villages . If you really dont want to be fs then just stop there. however i would suggest at least getting the fs quest done up to the point where you can take the little phase quest. that why when you max experiance out for different skills, you can simple run to the village and convert them over to force skill just incase one day you decide to go jedi you got some exp banked up

Do what I'm doing.
With my cuurrent template I have 18 sp to use for the 24 boxes.
Obviously I won't complete the requirements for the second old man visit but I am going to complete as many of the boxes as I can to complement the skills I have.
If the CU gives me 6 SP without dropping what I hae then maybe I'll complete the quests.
Ever hearof the Antarian Rangers FSbutcouldn't make Jedi.
for a short read on them go to the home page of swg-far.org.

I'm excited myself. I've had a character for a long time. He'd mastered 6 professions but I had also quit because I was not happy with how SoE was treating its customers. A friend talked to me and I read up, and it seemed like SoE had a change of heart. I was surprised to find I was surging with the force. I did the Jabba Theme Park, Nym Stronghold Theme Park and got 2 Warren badges and lo and behold the old man visited.
I may never make jedi, but man is it cool to know that I have the option. I'll unlock a branch each phase. I'll get boxes as I can. I'm in no hurry. The challenge is there to be bitten off in chunks I can handle.
It's nice.

Unlock all branches (18 weeks of time minimum) spend 24 skill points (Good if you want the crafting bonuses) and complete the paawan trials. You will be Jedi and have 24 less SP, but you will have a second character slot.
But I'm just a crafter! Don't hurt me! *pulls out saber that does 10 damage per hit*

Be nice to the old man, guard his rock, beat up the sith muggers that come looking for it and call it a day. Put the rock in your house as a decoration if you like (just make SURE not to let that house decay if you want to do the quest in the future). If your temp is complete, stop in every once in a while and convert extra exp to fs exp. Go by every 3 weeks and unlock a branch.
Nobody says you HAVE to fill out the branches. But, you're all set up for if, in the future, you wanna be a Jedi, you'll have an easier time of it since the branches are unlocked and you have some FS exp saved up.
