Recently I read a post on how you would change your village skills if you got another chance. Now to not waste skill points, almost everyone takes the essential 4- melee/ranged def and melee spd/acc. The other 2 are whatever you want.
Everyone said that they would take crafting assembly and experimentation for the last 2...why? Isnt this a waste? Buy some bespin port or something and you get a huge boost in assembly. You can find it at aany good BE chef food vendor, and since you only really neeed the assembly/experimentation bonuses when ur crafting a LS (or if u want to be a FS crafter and not a jedi) then why train it up and have it active all the time if u rarely ever need it?
BTW alot of MLS said it makes almost zero diff in their experiences to craft a LS with the crafting trees. So is there really a point. It almost seems the only reason the devs put it in there is to encourage crafters to become FS to make better stuff. Input anyone?

I believe the reason was it was thought to of been a big advantage to saber crafting. However, since we now know differently from the experiences of older Jedi, I doubt many would actually want to take those trees now.

You're right in that FS crafters get more use out of it than Jedi. If it helps, think of it as being like ranged speed/accuracy - not all the FS skills are useful to Jedi in the long run. Even melee speed is moot once you get to MLS.
Personally, I think it's one of the nice touches - it makes the FS skills a little more useful to the general population and gives people not interested in being a Jedi a reason to consider at least getting glowy.
Of course, that's just my $0.02.

That is precisely the reason why I started on that journey to begin with. If it hadn't been for that incentive, I would have continued to be a non-glowy doctor forever. Now I know more than 1 person in my situation and a couple of them are openly talking about going all the way to padawan to see what all the fuss is about...

I'm working on two FS characters, planning to take both to Padawan ... one is doing the standard Melee S/A, M/S Defense plus Survival (ANY Terrain Negotiation is welcome) and Persuasion, the other is taking Senses and Crafting, and is keeping Master Doctor and Master Artisan, and taking up 0004 DE sometime soon ... if I switched to a CDEF weapon, I could do that now, and I can make a GOOD one!

Yep.
Totally agree... nothing like a Master Shipwright who only gets great experimentation results or BETTER unless it's a critical fail...

The only real useful tree is FS Experimentation. With Bespin + Reserach center I would still get moderate success or worse but with FS Experimentation I get nothing less than great success.
Pyollian is better than the FS Assembly skills. With Pyollian I never get a failure during assembly (even before I got FS assembly) but I can get it when not using Pyollian (and FS assembly).
Repair don't seem to improve repairs much.
Have not noticed any difference with having Crafting tech. If it affect experimentation the FS Experimentation is enough.
