biwan:you will use patience even though this question has been posed before biwan:

Simply put, I need clarification ondiscarding or forgetting a branch. I finished Whip's quest in this current phase which unlocked the Survival branch. Being new to the village, I started training survival but realized I didn't want it. Can I forget about survival and unlock another branch in the next Phase?

you cant drop a branch until it is replaced by another. So you would have to unlock and then grind and train the new brach before dropping the old one. all this also needs to be done AFTER you have your 6 branches trained.

Actually, until you start the trials feel free to surrender any box you like, it's that easy. Once you progress to the point where you require your 6 branches (the trials essentially, initiate really) then you must train up a seventh before dropping one of the original six. Note that unlocking a branch just allows you to train it, so it isn't a problem that you have an extra one 'able' to be trained, just don't xp it and train it.

So I can leave the Survival untrained and simply wait for Phase 2 and complete a new quest? Many thanks.

Aww shucks.... ya, unlocking branches doesn't hurt, it's always correct to do *something* in a phase just for the reward (nevermind increasing your options of trainable branches).
