Well....I took a few month break from SWG but logged on to claim my unlocks. So im sitting here with 6 unlocked branches and only 5 / 24 boxes filled. so basically the time grind is over and its up to me , how fast i get my 6 branches filled. Ive been a master TK and master doc awhile now. I love it. i dont want to change. But the exp grinding is killer with just unarmed exp. Everyones talking about commando and grenades. Should i go commando in my situation? and if so...what's the fastest / easiest way to switch from master TK/ master Doc... to commando 3000 or 4000 w/e it is.

I was in your same situation about a month ago, only difference being I had a few more boxes filled already. I crunched the numbers and could do the nade grind in about 1/3 of the time of the unarmed grind. With buffs and armor you can get Novice Commando in no time, then switch to nades and grind up the Commando tree 4/0/0/0. Only took a couple weeks and I finished the grind. I loved the TKM/Doc combo, but am much happier to be done with the grind. Eventually you would have to drop one of the Masters for the FS skills (most likely doc) might as well get it over with.

Don't be so quick to change! I am a Master Doc/TKM too. I was also in you position...all 6 branches unlocked, but only 5 or so boxes. After one and a half weeks of C12 grinding, I am now have 13 boxes complete. Yes, it is slower than Commando grenades. But you can keep your TKM/Doc for quite a bit longer. Besides, you would have to give up quite a bit of your skills to train Master Marksman, then Commando 4xxx. Do the math. If you like to be able to buff yourself, and also be able to open a can of "you know what", then keep your Doc/TKM and just grind with C12's with max damage PuP's. You might actually come out a little bit ahead as far as credits go too. Yes it takes a heck of alot more C12's, but the cost on them is pretty cheap. Remember to buy in bulk, many weaponsmiths with give discounts when doing this.

Good Luck!

yup, it's a toughy. I was a master bounty hunter/ master pistoleer and almost dropped it all for the tk/ commando temp.

C12's with great stats still get me about 70k combat xp per 2 missions if done correctly. So i only lost my carbines and i can make those up in a day.

Just my two cents:

c12s aren't terrible - they are a damned site better than thetypical weapons/combat XP rate. Thermals/Imperials/Protons are MUCH quicker than c12s (the difference between the commando grenades and c12s is about equal to the difference between c12s and regular weapon XP as far as time is concerned). But the bottom line is this: unless you are pressed for time, c12s are going to be plenty quick for you - especially considering that you like your current template.

im trying out the commando method, how far up should i go? all the way to thermal? field tactics 4, or will imperial detonators work better or just as good

True story im bringin the team back, even Roy Jones was forced to lean back
mastered: scout/ranger/squadleader/marksman/swordsman/brawler/fencer/tka/
current template: Master Swordsman/ Master Brawler/ Master Fencer/ 4-0-0-1 tka +12 fs melee speed. speed capped 2 hand goodness.

C12's are crap once you've tasted Thermal Detonators. My adivce. Bite the bullet, drop Doctor, and pick up 4/0/0/0 Commando. Do your grenade grind, and get it out of the way. Doctor is not hard to grind back to Master, and having TKM will be much handier to you while you're throwing all those grenades at baz nitches. If you want the grind done fast, go Commando...nothing is faster.

The beauty of this game is the ability to regrind templates at will. I hear people cry about having to drop parts of their template for this or that. Get over it...combat professions take a handful of buff sessions to regrind, and Doctor is even faster if you have people helping you. Plain and simple, if you need lots of FS xp, and you need it fast...go Commando.

I was tkm/commando when i started and dropped the commando because of the cost of nades. C-12's with pups can get it done, and you'll appreciate the Doc skills once you unlock. Would suck to have to regrind it.

Oh, the whole 4 hours that it takes? Outside of crafting, the Doc grind is nothing. The ability to regrind templates is a blessing, not a curse.

Why the hostility? It's one guy's opinion - back off. While 444x Doctor is easy to grind if you have access to a second toon or a friend, the xxx4 line isn't all that fun.
