Thread: Is there any way to tell if you have free unlocks?

Simple question. Is there any way to tell if you have free unlocks coming prior to actually becoming FS. I recently became FS with one player and had 3 free unlocks. Now I am wondering if my alt who is NOT FS will have any unlocks. If he does, it might be worth getting glowy, but if not, then I think the grind would be too much for me!!

Yes the character was created in 12/03. That alt did not do any holo grind, but did master a couple of professions. What if the professions I mastered were not holo professions? You are saying that I still would get unlocks?

The chances of getting an unlock is very remote even though your toon was created pre pub 9.

The more profs you mastered the more chance you have of getting a freebie.

I think the formula was 8 professions mastered (specific to your toon) 4 of which could be found by holo and 4 unknown.

However t5here were a couple of stealth nerfs around march-june 2004 regarding this so it may be more.


If the ones you mastered were on your unknown list then there is a chance.

Not entirely accurate.



Not only do you have to be here pre-pub 9 but you also have to have some of the required professions mastered from the Holocron Statements too.


For example, if you mastered 9 or 10 professions and Pub 9 hit the unlocks would be adjusted so you have to do some but not all.

Yes does help thanks. I guess I will just have to get glowy and see for myself. I only want 2 unlocks, so we will see!!

If you havent mastered around 8 professions before Pub 9 you wont get two free unlocks and its easy to find out.


Go to your bio page and count all the Mastered Elite professions. If you see around 8 then you'll have 2 unlocked. If not, you have to do it the easy way hehe

That's not true -- the holo profs were random. If it's true that there were eventually 8 holo profs, and you mastered 2 professions, I'd say there's a 50% chance that you got 1 free unlock. And a very remote chance that you got 2 unlocks....but I'm not really a statistician...


I'm not sure how to tell whether you have a freeunlock at the village, but I'd say be careful what you try to learn b/c that would suck if you accidentally unlock a tree that you don't want.



edit: when I say 'holo profs' above I really mean holo/hidden profs.

The way that I understood it is based off how many professions you need to unlock.


Example:


You need 8 professions to unlock. You did your holo grind and got your first silent. You should have atleast 2 free unlocks. If you were lucky and hit your 5th and 6th "silent" professions you should get 4 unlocks. And for your 7th you get 5 unlocks.


It has nothing to do with how many professions you did, only on how many you did that was part of your path to jedi.


That was the way it was explained to me when the village came to be.


And to be honest, if you are this far out, I can almost gaurantee that you have no free unlocks.

As a matter of fact, this character (look at register date), mastered 8 profs pre-pub 9. I then took a LONG break, and came back 3 weeks ago. I decided to get glowie in order to get the health buff crystal. All I needed to do was get the 2 warren badges and that was it. I became FS, got my crystal, and discovered that I had 3 free unlocks. And that is after being gone for a year.
