I have been sitting here looking at this main issue regarding going from Force Sensitive to Jedi initiate. Now my total lack of enthusiasm for the mindless grind fest that we have just now. So im asking all the FS characters, out there in all servers to listen to this idea and see if it would help YOU become Jedi.

Now heres my idea, mentioned in another of my posts.

> We get to the village after killing the sith.

The village elder gives us one main quest.

= Quest: SEEK OUT THE (Hilt) COMPONENTS FOR A LIGHTSABER.

This quest will be filled by dangers through-out the galaxy. it makes us seek out three parts for our little magic wand. Heres how it works. First journal quest is to find the hilt. These can be located in four or more waypoints through out the known galaxy. NOT placed in dungeons, but in camps surrounded by four Sith. (one Thug, 2 pirates, 1 outlaw). Once we have this part. we go back to the village for the next part (another quest, this time to find the force crystal) this can be placed on either dantooine or Endor. again a camp with either more sith or with other MOBS. (to be decided)

= Quest : Find the Force Crystal (Target: Endor, Dantooine, Tatooine, Yavin IV, Corellia, Naboo, Lok )

Only when we arrive at the correct planet does the waypoint become active. No time limit to find the camp, as it spawns ONLY when within 250m of the spawn site.

During these quests, three things can happen. Groups of outlaws can attack (in groups of 5 with Hams of 5k ) making it easy.

Now once we find the Force crystal. it leads us (again) back to the village, and to the final quest. BUILD the lightsaber. this is where the devs can be more ingenious. rather than killing things, we have to find a quiet spot for say a couple of hours. or even meditate for a day. before building it.

= Quest : Use the force to unite as one with your Lightsaber.....

how this works is simple. we find a quiet spot away from danger, mobs that attack us to meditate (IE using the force to meld the two together)

This can be out in the field. or in our houses. I dont envisage people loggin in for 2 days straight just for it to work, this can be randomly done by the devs, between 1 and 2 hours or so... giving casual players time to do this as well.

Once this is done, then we can unlock Jedi Initiate. This gives us all a lightsaber (rather than grinding 2million XP for force XP) But we still have to GRIND the same level XP for the skills, but we are armed with a lightsaber making it more easy for us to do so.

To win in PVP one must cheat, exploitz, hackz, and above all, have other pals that do the same. Once the foe is defeated, then go "OMGZZZ UZZZ SUCZ, LERN TO PLAY"

And so forth!

It'll never happen... the devs spent months programming the current system... I highly doubt they will change it now...

Plus... your idea... would put a lightsaber in someones hands sooner than before...

What you neglect to realize is they have made it this way for a reason... you know what that reason is???

They want you to give up... thier logic is that you wull give up and just play the game as a normal char... they don't want 50% of each server playerbase to be Jedi.... so they figure that this way only the most determined of players will go through with it all...

I can tell you right now if drand new player was to talk to me... I would discourage them from taking the path to Jedi... I am not quite done with it yet... but from what I have gone through so far... I would discourage anyone from even starting on the path...

Do yourself a favor.... give the old man the finger and walk away....

i know 5 players on eclipse that gave the game up, not enough, maybe this new combat upgrade will kill the rest of the FS players off.

I don't think thier goal is to make you give the game up... just Jedi... unfortunatly... unless one is a true roleplayer and knows how to "make thier own content" there really isn;t much to do on this game except go for Jedi....

eh... who knows... maybe it will bring new life to the game... we shall see... (combat upgrade)

Good idea. The problem is the bottom line. And by that I mean $. Your idea would have people as Jedi pretty quick. The current system has a minimum wait of at least 4 1/2 months (at $15 a month). I'm sure the devs have brought some more quest based ideas to the table but unless they create revenue I bet they got thrown out. Of course if you got Jedi right away you would still play that Jedi to level it and to pvp/pve, but this way guarantees that extra 4 1/2 months of money for those people dedicated to the Jedi path. Plus, like the other posts stated, they want people to give up to keep the Jedi population down.

Your idea is good in concept but doesnt work, if this were to happen, people could attain jedi in a day. Plus your doing the same thing as the DEVS except on a muchsmaller scale, goto WP kill sith return to village end quest minus the xp grind. Therefore anyone to become a jedi in very little time. However at least with the village quests there is some variety for those arent combat yet to obtain jedi and do quests to their liking. I think the system we have in place is fine, yes it takes grueling time and thats exactly what jedi should take. Time.

no no, the grind is still there, that doesnt change, only when we recieve the lightsaber does. the devs could tweak it, so the XP -> FXP stays the same. lightsaber kills could give you only a fraction combat XP. say 100.

I just started jedi initiate today and using the saber to get exp would be a slow process. grinding fs exp with melee and ranged weapons exp would be alot faster in getting exp than using a lightsaber. And the lightsaber is like a butter knife when you start out. Cutting a piece of bread would take alot of hacking with it. Using a fs weapon (non-lightsaber) that gives automatic fs exp would be a better idea.

the only thing making people quit is the lack of intelligence in SOE,

broken spawns all over planets

poi's camped up the Arse

space expantion exp is not convertible

we have no way of exp unless we want to kill approximately 2000990030204 nunas

it would have been nice if SOE did what they said in the first place and made the FS system quest based but they didnt. this isnt just about getting Jedi anymore these problems effect the WHOLE game.

we need more solo-able instance places to fight, like the corvette except less hard so we can solo.

we need more caves in general with good spawn rates and not 30 min spawns so everyone has some kills to get.

a MMO means thousands of people play on ONE server, you cant have such little to fight........

Thats very good, i think we should have the choice to be as proactive as we want about getting jedi

instead of being phase capped

only problem i find with this is i think he should give people some sort of quest or series of quests (jedi isnt meant to be easy remeber but it will full on cut the grind) to be eligable to start lokking for components for a lightsaber hilt ect

its a shame that although i knew everyone would prefer this to the current grind, even if the devs said they will do it today, it wont be out by the time im jedi...but still it could improve the content and playability of SWG alot

this is required to save SWG from the dustbin, its all fair and good having the grind to limit the numbers of Jedi in the game, but not to the extent of killing SWG.

how many FS, peeps really are getting to the end of their tether with all the bugs, missed oppertunities with SWG.

i just wish the devs would listen to us, the paying customer.

Im not asking for the grind fest to be removed, only asking to become Jedi initiate ONCE we build the lightsaber rather than grinding out 6 boxes full and having to kill mellachie.

Like every high end MOB, their are weak against Lightsaber, so its only fair to have a lightsaber to use, we still would need our pals to help out kill them and his force crystals, but would be much more Star war feeling to actually USE it on them.

/shrugs.

heh..

I think the LAST thing this game needs are more "solo-able" areas. I was here from day 1, and the most fun this game has been for me was before solo grouping ever started. EVERY major starport had huge hunting groups forming 24/7. A group of 20 strangers would go out and run missions or something, and we all thought the cash was great, and it was a great way to interact with NEW people. Since this is a massively multiplayer game and all....

There were very few guilds, because everyone was meeting new people all the time...those were the days.
