Ranger is pretty cool because the scout XP max is pretty high, and you can get a ton just riding to the village with mask scent on. The conversion rate however puts it about equivalent with combat xp as far as time invested with hide harvesting and all. Merchant xp is not bad at 4:1 and if you have a full column I believe you can max at 80K, it is nice to go to the village, cash in your 80K, log for a long weekend, come back and get 80K more. It took me a while to realize that merchant xp is NOT sales driven. It is vendor "time" driven. So the more vendors you have up and running, regardless of sales, the more merchant xp you are clocking.

Just some thoughts,

Master ranger cap in all 3 ranger XP types (scouting, trapping, wilderness survival) is 160k. just conceal while you are on Dath, and scout XP rolls in. Harvesting rancors will make it even faster. Also, if you can tank, aggro a rancor and throw traps at it. Just make sure it isn't a state effect, as those don't stack. Use Glow wire or glow ball traps (minus to def). and you can throw stack after stack and cap that too fairly quickly on a single rancor.

I did an entire branch of Senses while Master Ranger/Master Rifleman. I think the best plan is to get in a decent sized solo group and pull the Kamurith Defiler missions on Dath. One little caveat about what I did... be sure to take the 21k missions, not the 20k ones. The 20k missions only spawn 12 Defilers while the 21k missions spawn 15. I could easily cap Scout and Rifle exp in less than 2 hours on those missions.

Obviously, take 2 missions near one another. The 21k ones aren't super common, so be ready to do some refreshing. My usual plan was to take the firsttwo 21k missions that I saw, then keep refreshing until I saw a 3rd. I would then determine which 2 of the 3 were closest and abort one mission I had accepted if necessary. It sounds like a hassle, but it will savetime to do that.

The Kamuriths give 837 Scout exp each (737 for harvesting, 100 for being concealed). I harvested only meat for the majority of the branch (which I sold for 7 million credits). I loved Ranger, but after that branch I was soooo ready to give it up.

If I remember correctly, I had enough FS exp to train one branch of Senses after 4 FS branches of capping Rifile exp. I also was doing as much afk camp grinding as possible. Not exactly sure how much of my exp came from camps.

Not so sure I would do that again, but I really wanted the Persuasion branch. Had a group of ST's help me out this weekend (and I'm very much a Rebel).

I am MSwords, MBrawler, Combat Prowness 0044 and Ranger 0040 atm. My PvP capability goes down significantly but I figure it's a temp situation and can live with it a bit. Sure you can do the rez trick but the way I look at it I have tocap swords xp anyway so why not harvest and get easy scout xp at the same time. Now that I am speed capped after finishing Melee Speed in prowness and a few AAs it'slike killing 2 birds with one stone.

To make this as painless as possible I even did a macro to automateprocess (which allows me to chat with friends or take a bite of pizza while attacking a lair). Yes it's not roleplaying it but by doing this it leaves me alot of time to roleplay and do fun stuff with friends.

Heres what I do:

I jump on my shipand do a quick travel to Dantooine Mining Outpost. It's almost always guaranteed you can get into a large solo group there and a doc to buff quick.

I then travel to dath and go to work. I grab two 39K rancor missions in somewhat same direction (Ie. NW and W). I use a AV-21 due to it's superior hill climbing ability (my Hummer so to speak). Yes there are some dangers of losing it to a nightsister but I have never lost one (knock on wood).

Now the business end of it:

Drive up close to lair. This takes practice as you have to keep vehicle far enough away from lair because of the Rancor bodies will cover it if too close.

the AutoAttack macro:

/dismount;

/pause 2;

/ui action toolbarSlot10; (takes a brandy or attempts to take one I keep in that slot - I never die to a brandy downer anymore)

/ui action toolbarSlot11; (takes a vegash ..better harvest nimbers...or attempts to take one)

/macro CoBLoop;(my center of being macro - cuts armor costs)

/macro SpinAttackLoop (a looping macro with /melee2hSpinattack2wih slight pause - use you best area attack here)

/pause 60;(not to brag - I can take out entire lair and all Mobs in about 45 secsbut I add15 secs for good measure - I kill them so fast rarely do they even have a chance to run)

/macro HarvestHideloop;(yep a looping harvest macro with a .75 pause in between - yes this adds system spam...but I don't turn it on while doing this - no I don't loot as so far haven't gotten anything worth keeping from a Rancor...this may change after this new loot sys)

I target lair boom they are dead...click around pile and harvest most of them, then get back on vehicle with following macro:

/ui action clearCombatQueue; (added this as it helped me get on vehicle everytime,before sometimes it would miss)

/mount AV-21; (don't have to target vehicle just be close)

/pause 2;

/dump;

/dump;(found I need 2 dumps to guarantee all macros stop in case it misses first due to lag)

Then I head to outpost and quickly gather 2 moremissions...I don't fool around here and socialize.

After it's all said and done I cap my scout and swords xp, have alot of credits I didn't have, and have a ton of hides (I sell these like hotcakes @ 3cpu on bazaar).

Hope this helps someone out there who is thinks thisis tedious...once automated..it's a walk in the park. I wish it could have been a better system to get padawan but I have to live with what they give me.

I haven't trained a line yet, but I have all four branches unlocked and 1.96mill FS Sense xp banked. I have no idea what the cap is but I'm banking until I find it. (Just cause I don't want to screw up my current template until I have to).

As far as "fastest"... I grind about 100-120K per day of FS sense xp when I'm in a full entertainer group. If I have group problems (not getting invited), it's more like 50-60K per day of FS sense xp.

IMO, although I hate afk'ing, it's the best and easiest way to grind it out. and frees up your evenings to play the game instead of grinding xp. I may try the rezzing thing tho for slow days... Sounds promising.

I'm hopeing there's no cap and I can bank the whole 4.9mill and train them all at once when I'm ready... I'm still trying to figure out what the fastest 2 extra branches will be. I don't want to grind out combat, but crafting seems way too borish...
