Ahhh the FS Grind.

Nothing says Jedi more than killing thousands and thousands of innocent wildlife found frolicking around the lush landscape of unblemished planets. Yes, we leave virtual mounds of rotting animal carcasses just lying around...after all who has the time to actually harvest when you know that your buffs are slowly ticking away.

Grinding.

Grinding sucks. (Period). Its boring, repeditive, costly, simple-minded, make work.

Grinding is bad in so many ways. It contributes further to the "Me First" mentality of any number of players, driving them into the wilds to kill beast after beast in seclusion. Isolating them from thier guild mates and friends because theyre getting close to "capping" and want to just finish off one more lair.

Grinding also forces people into finding the best place to reap xp/time, again destroying the beauty of the game, the exploration, escape, and social aspects of the game. And dare I say, encouraging people to search out and find ....Exploited spawns. Oh you know the ones, theyre easy to see, they'll be surrounded by hordes of NPCs, a hand full of Jedi and Melee types all killing non-stop until the corpses pile so high that you cant click the screen without selecting one.

Grinding also destroys the economy. DE10's anyone? Should be literally hundreds on the market now. Granted this grind has been much friendlier to the economy than the holo grind.

Right, we get it you dont like grinding. So what? Its the way the game is. If you dont like it dont do it.

Ahh there it is.

I... should...just...stop. I... should... abandon...my dream. No I'll keep doing it, and like everyone else I'll buy case after case of C12's to lob over and over again at a lump of earth.

Im not opposed to sane grinding, reasonable grinding, after all, all MMOGs use it to some extent, its an accepted and expected part of life. I just feel that its just a bit extreme in this case and doesnt have a whole heck of a lot to do with what it means to be a Jedi.

I still think a better path to Jedi would have been a Garriotesque attribute based quest. A long one where you individually passed a series of quests and gained Honor, Valor, Wisdom, Patients, Strength, Humility, etc. Quests that taught what Jedi was, what it stood for, and about the Force. So you ask...but what about the dark side? Easy, simply have each quest point subtely in two diverging paths one light one dark.

But, but, people would just read spoilers and guides. Yep that they could, but it wouldnt change the fact that they would have to still complete them. Besides, guides etc always exist.

But, but, everyone would be a Jedi... Well, how exactly is that different from today? The quests could easily take a looong time, even without non-sensical artificial gating like phases today.

Point is, people are going to do the grind one way or another. Wouldnt it be better if they somehow used that time instead to actually immerse themselves into the game universe instead of doing the same thing over and over again?

Just my thoughts.
