I understand that you get the 6 lines to get the old man then he sends you somewhere to do something. Then you are a jedi initiate, yay! Theoritically could i get saber novice then do the padawan trials using all tk or do you need a saber to do the trials?

Also, for the people who entered jedi under the new system, what recommendations would you say (as far as template goes) to carry into padawan? something like tkm/novice doc? tk for meditation and powerboost and novice doc for good healing ability.

you dont get a saber till part way into the trails and even then your more of a danger to yourself then to the animal. You cant get novice sabers til lyou get 20k jedi exp and have your skill trainer which you dont get till the end of the trial.
So dont bother using the saber since you cant wear armor while you use it, your damage is next to Zero. And if you die...omg...grinding out of the hole before novice saber would suck i would think.

In a nut shell, do the trials with your current profession, will be so much easier for you.

You will find that tk is very usefulfor a padawan. Not just for the meditation and powerboost, but also for the melee defense. If you are out hunting and get in trouble it is always good to be able to switch to your vibroknuckler and rectify the situation.

Unless you want the doc to buff yourself, 2040 medic will be good for healing and will allow you to use 40 med use stim D's and also cure bleeds.

TKM Doc is a great template for Jedi padawan. As stated before you cannot wear armor while using your LS, and berserk/intimidate are a REQUIREMENT while grinding up to Novice Lightsaber (normally you will do about 114 dmg, while berserk it will goto around 300). Doc is good to heal yourself obviously, if you are able to cure states that's even better but not really necessary with meditate. Only thing i would say is just find a nice quiet corner of the planet to grind out Jedi Xp, cuz the last thing you want is visibility and a BH on your tail when you can barely handle a pack of kreetles...

Believe me I died and lost 4500 pts and its taken a while to get outta the hole.

Another thing that helps a lot, make sure you complete the Hero of Tatt quests. Your reward for that is a ring that allows you to rez yourself once a day and has 50 charges. This ring is invaluable to a jedi b/c you suffer no xp loss (unless a BH is what db'd you). I only died because I forgot to equip the ring, so make sure you have it on.

Actually you can't get novice anyways until you complete your padawan trials. Even if you get your 20k ahead of time you can't train in anything till you finish the trials. But what is a good idea because you will want to show off your saber n stuff to friends is while you get initiate after the ls crafting trial then you could go kill things to get your 20k and bank it at least. Keep in mind just because you can kill rancors as a tkm don't even try to kill themwithyour training saber. Regular 5k quenkers work but do em 1 at a time or crazed gurreks etc.very weak creatures but not butterflies cause you get about 20 xp for them andit will take forever. You do not get visibility while you are initiate but if you die you will lose 4,500 jedi xp which is a lot pre novice. If you think you can stay off the terms in the beginning then finish your trials and get your robe etc. but you then have a chance to be on the terms and you could lose a lot more then 4,500 xp pts if you die. Best thing to do, like i said, is to show it off as initiate and get it out of your system. Now to do the trials i just used my tkm all the way through it.

Best template to have is tkm/doc but even tkm/master medic worked for me. You WILL want at least medic 0040 no matter what because you will need to heal yourself A LOT. TKM also because it can at least save you many times against a bh or if you get incapped force of will. Plus you can heal your own wounds. Then i gradually surrendered my my medic stuff as i progessed in jedi and after i had to finally lose 0040 medic as the last of it i made sure to work on force heal to heal yourself.
