Dont think it really matters as long as you are not indoors or NPC city

He turned up for me outside my house which is right on the edge of the no build zone around Mos Eisley - took 3 days though

He came to me earlier today , I was in a player city on tat , there is not a bigger chance that he will come in the middle of nowhere just be patient , also you do not have to just sit there and wait for him . I got him in 14 hours , 10 of those hours were sleep and I was offline ! I woke up and logged on in the morning just to see if he would come while I was brushing my teeth he camp twice and I missed him , I shuttled twice and bang there he was , so even go out and hunt don't just sit there and wait for him cause he will come , if you happen to miss him then he will come back after a few minutes so no worries

i might suggest waiting on a planet with few player structures to avoid problems. Yavin is a good one to try, i also found, and maybe its different now, that the second time the old man came to me that i had to catch up to him, he was walking aimlessly about 60m from me...

The first time he came to me about 1000m outside a player city. The second time maybe only 100m outside an NPC city. So I don't think it matters as long as it not IN an npc city? Only 2 visits isn't a wide array of data tho so i could be way off base heh
