Thread: FS Senses Surveying quest

so, I take my alt to the village to unlock his second column. he's a crafter, got no combat skills, and I'm hoping to take care of the four crafting column unlocks starting next phase.

so, I go to Eozlin to get the surveying quest to unlock that column of Heightened Senses... find locations with a 50% or better concentration of various types of resources, presumably randomly generated as I'm going along and ready for a new one... first 6 in the series, no problems, I find them...

for the next one, I need to find Iron... I open the mineral tool, only to discover there's absolutely no Iron to be found on Dathomir (I'm on Starsider). first thought was to just bop over to another planet where there is iron and survey there... til it occured to me that, like some of the space missions, if I leave the area (in this case, the planet), I might fail the mission....

so, I put in a CS ticket to ask if this is the case... flagged it as "I'm stuck" in hopes that I'd get a quick response... well, there was no response by the time I logged out for dinner. just got back in and found a reply. here's the ticket so far:

Ticket ID: 2801439

while performing the quest for Eozlin to unlock the Force Sensitive Heightened Senses Surveying tree, I received a directive to survey for Iron. presently there is none of that resource available on Dathomir.

will the quest "fail" if I go to a different planet for this resource?

the ticket was left open, so I did add a reply... needless to say, I'm incredibly unhappy at being stuck on Dathomir indefinately -- why the H___ are there no checks in place to prevent an impossible task from being assigned??

it appears that the resource to be found is generated randomly at each stage of the quest -- does it not check against the database of what's currently in spawn?

sign me....

...fuming mad...

Question: Why would the mission fail if you leave the planet?

There are several missions that span more than one day, you also leave the plante then! I'm thinking of Melee Speed where you have to destroy 8 Sith Camps, 3 a day. I left Dath in between the missions and nothing hapenned. Also the "Vehicular Control" unlock sends you 6 times to Endor and back. Therefore giving you specifically missions on another planet, that is not reachable directly through public transport. (you need to have JTL to be able to travel directly to Endor from Dathomir)

Anyway, If you fail the mission because you left the plantet, which would surprise me, you should be able to reset the mission by the person who gave you the mission in the first place. Some people die while on a Village Mission, then continue without problems.

If you are unsure, or unwilling to take the "risk" then check http://www.swgcraft.com/home.php for current available resources (click on "current resources"). They are usually up to date and have the new resources within a day. They also sort as per Server and Planet, so you can go look what are the current resources for Starsider on Dathomir. I just checked, no Iron on Dath at this moment. The Resources warp every 10 days or so, either be patient, or go to another planet to survey.

On the other hand, I'm a player, not a programmer for SOE or a support representative.

Hope I could help.

1 - you dont have to stay on planet.

2 - apparently after you get all the required % spots, you dont even have to return to the village .... See the village guide under the quests section.

First, let me say that I am justSTUNNED by that CSR's apparent lack of interest or just outright stupidity!!

and yep -all posted in the Guide. I just did it and I can tell you for a fact that you *can* go off planet.

Just another case of people not reading. /sigh

Don't mean to flame dude, but you could have been done with this quest hours earlier if you just *read*!!

thanks for the help. no, really!

I did look through the guide before putting in a ticket or posting here, not sure how I missed the info I was looking for (maybe too much of a hurry?)

as a side-note, I've received a reply to my follow-up comment on the ticket from a different CSR who's said "I dounderstand your situation and frustration this issue has given you. Please be informed that it may fail you need to wait until another Iron shifts in." ...and the ticket was closed

/sigh

/target CSR

LOL!

Anyways I did the quest just now and all of my surveying was off Dathomir so I can confirm for 100% no-nonsense sure that you can do it. And you do not have to return to village when done.

The inorganic survey tool is cool as well. Saves 3 spaces in Inventory now...
