you can cap combat exp in 20 min, if you use thermals, or protons as master commando, i did take master commando, to not offend the "pro"- commandos.. and i am realy doing dammage... a proton does 1500-3500 dmg... and you can take a lair out in 5-7 of them... if you are doing giant baz nitch...

you even get profit.. look at this

a crate with 125 protons = 90-100k
10 protons each mission (as max)
1 giant baz nitch mission = 11k

125:10 = 17.87*11k = 196k

(sliced) 125:11 = 17.87 * 16k = 286k

if you are takeing a sologroup yo don't get the money... but much more exp... and you an get up to 100k combat exp on 1 lair.... just normal attack it first, to get the baz nitches out (then you use less grenades)

Well,

Find a weaponsmith who sells grenades.

If you are not novice commando, you'll only be able to use C12's which, honestly are not worth the trouble.

If you have novice commando you can work up to 4-0-0-0 commando and use the really nice grenades,
although most WS are on to this and charge insane prices for the high level stuff.

What I've been doing since I've had a combo of BH and Commando skills for a long time was to have a Weaponsmith buddy of mine make me schematics for the parts and a c22 grenade schem. Then I just fill an equipment factory and make them as I need them.

The theory behind grenades is they give combat xp instead of weapon xp.

Combat xp is a 3 to 1 exchange rate in the village.

I disagree with the previous post. C12s are definitely worth the trouble if you don't want to change your template.

I am Master Ranger / TKM and I use C12s doing 11K Giant Baz Nitch missions on Dath when in a solo group. I can get 60K Combat XP per lair (takes 15 grenades per lair) and cap by Combat XP every 1 1/2 or 2 hours (which is fine by me). Usually I can get somewhere in the range of 150K to 200K FS Exp per buff session this way.

It's all about your play style.... if you feel comfortable dropping skills just to get Commando for bigger grenades than more power to you but if you don't want to change your current template than have at it with C12s.

I finished my FS XP grind last week using grenades. Everyone does it a little differently. Solo groups to me are a must, but you aren't making jack for credits then.

With a good solo group I was capping out combat xp on 2 lairs usually.

The one thing I did though was if I got above 230k combat xp I went to the village and turned it in. No I didn't get the 100k FS XP, but since 1 run on a lair was roughly 70k-80k I did not want to waste any possible XP.

That probably meant me going to the village a couple more times a buff session which wasted time.

I generally would get 300k-400k combat xp per buff session.

I started out w/o any commando using c12s and then dropped a lot of my swordsman tree (I kept tkm) in order to get commando up to 4000. Since the grenade branch in commando is combat, I just used c12s on GBZs until I got novice, then used c22s on the GBZs to go up to grenades 3, then imp dets to get grenades 4.

I shopped around for thermals and just couldn't see using them for the price differential. I bought imp dets in groups of 4 and 33% dmg pups in groups of 10.

Imp Dets I used were around 2100-2200 dmg so putting the dmg pup on them added another 700 dmg. That meant stuff started dying in 4 tosses vs. 6.

And be prepared to loose a bunch of vehicles. In fact I lost 2 swoops to the GBZs I was fighting.

Grenading is costly if you don't have a WS friend to make them for you. Be prepared to spend some time in space or not in a solo group running missions to recoup costs.

On Valcyn Imp Dets range from 95k to 200k (per crate). And if you find a good supply of pups they generally run about 3k/crate.

GRENADE IS THE CORRECT SPELLING

YOU PULL THE PIN AND SIT ON IT!!!

On a serious note you get about 20 million creds worth of grenades and power ups and keep abut 10 sets of 90% resist composite armour on you and you get giant biznatch lairs of more than 99 difficulty on dathomir and you just stand in the middle of the lair where you can blow yourself to pieces and throw grenades at the lair until everything, except for yourself, is dead. If you use higher than c-22 grenades you need alot of healing too. Expect to take a massive beating.

Get 80% blast resist armor and buffs. And have some melee defense, I am TKM so that works well.

Then you don't have to worry about healing at all, in fact I had novice medic because I was worried about healing, after a while I needed some SP so I dropped novice medic.

You will have to go get mind buffed again and while you are there cure the BF. Wounds will need to be healed though, if you are TK then you got that covered as well.
