I was a Light Jedi Knight and I decided to go imperial. I dropped the light enclave and bought faction and am now imperial, but I have not gotten a message about restarting the trials. What do I need to do now?

just kneel at any shrine and it will give you a starting point.

I am on my 6th branch now so looking forward to the Padawan trials but just a few general questions about those.
I have read the listing of the various trials but from someone who has done them, about how long in game play time does it take to accomplish all 16? The majority of them sound like you go answer a question here or there or help solve a problem so I am envisioning something where you get a WP and go there, answer some and then go to another Force Shrine and rinse/repeat 16 times.
Because of this thinking it sounds like all 16 could be done during an extended weekend day of playing. Am I correct in this assumption?

The whole thing can be done in a day or two if you have no bugged missions (Rori missions have a tendancy to lose the NPC you need to talk to. Restart all Rori missions and get a new waypoint)
However you don't want to get to Padawan right away for one simple reason. You become eligible to get on the BH terminals. When your half way through the trials you need to construct a training lightsaber. Using this, you get Jedi xp and you need 20k of Jedi xp to fill your first novice box, the Lightsaber Novice box. It's much safer to grind the 20k as an Intiate then as a Padwan. Once you get your 20k, finish the trials and when you hit Padawan, you'll get your trainer waypoint. You then immediately go there and train Novice Lightsaber. Now you can construct your 1st gen doublebladed Lightsaber and start the real grind. At this point Lightsaber 0040 is only 3.2 million Jedi xp away. That's about 8000 quenkers. Have a nice day.

Not sure as I'm still trying to finish up all the FS stuff. I'm sure someone will answer it eventually, but you could also try posting this on the Jedi forum since the majority there have completed the trials and might be able to answer you quicker

It ALL depends upon your luck. I've had two trials bug and take me DAYS to get around the bug (actually, I haven't gotten past the second one yet).
There are NPCs that are supposed to spawn. The USUAL bug is that the NPC doesn't spawn at your WP after you complete it (for you to just click and say "done" to finish). These mean that you have to drive all the way to a shrine, reload the mission and do it again. This has happened for me up to eight times in a single trial so far.
I'm currently stuck on the musician trial. You need four NPCs to spawn correctly and I've had at MOST one spawn in eight tries (I'm going to try it again as soon as Bria is up since someone said that NPCs might not load if PCs are around). That means that I will take anywhere from weeks to months or NEVER finish the trials depending upon whether this bug can be bypassed.
Don't expect help from CS if you are irrepairably bugged. They just say, "sorry"....

Rori missions are nortious for this. If it's on Rori, reset it and don't even bother. The other main reason for the NPCs disappearing is if you get aggored in vicinity of the waypoint. Some criminals on Talus were causing me this problem. Be careful when you approach.

also doesn't hurt to have a macro spam /conv when you get close enough to target your mission NPC.
