Thread: Why are there 25 base locations when only 4 can be done?

So tonight (shift night on Tarq)I decided to give the melee quest a shot. As expected all the close bases looked like Coro in the old days so I decided to take the base by the tar pits. Looked like a nice straight shot and flat so figured why not and grabbed 2 buddies. Started off with no problem, got the commander and off we went...and went...and went. Things went perfectly, I never touched a sith, never stopped the constant walk/run/walk/run. Didn't even haveto recapture the commander and no bugs (except for that turret one but that at least didn't change anything). So my 2 guildies just took care of everything as I took my flat and straight stroll, made it 6456m in 1 hour that's how perfect it went. Until, with 400m to go and the wall of the village in sight, guess who drops dead.


You have to be f'ing kidding me....


Ok, so the guy walks...slow. And it's a quest designed for a group. Big deal. But is there any reason they have bases that when even done almost to perfection can't be done? Was this a result of some drunk darts with no thought behind what can actually be done in an hour? I just don't get it...

Same here. We tried that same base tonight on Corbantis. Only had to recapture a few times. Made it about 3500m in 1hr with the hills and having to find ways around a few of the straight down cliffs.

If he would only run it would be possible. The person escorting never stopped to fight, only to recapture when needed. I guess will try to loot some more discs to get one of the closest 3 and hang out at them like everyone else.

Take the timer off or make him run.

they shoudl just let you be able to offer the sith commander a ride in your speeder. I'm not even kidding, and i think it makes sense. If he'll agree to go with you in the first place, he'd probably agree to sit his butt down in a comfy chair for a five minute stroll.

I havent done it this time round, but when I did the MA quest last phase 3 I got a base 8k from the village and walked all the way back without too much trouble - and it was very hilly.

I don't know what changed but I don't think that's even close to possible this cycle. Unless there's something I'm not doing correctly. Would make sense though that the quest has changed dramatically though, why else would they take the time to design and implement so many bases?

I'm pretty sure the "line of sight" changes that came with the CU is making a big difference here.


Remember how we could shoot through the ground and hills and stuff and now we can't?


Well, the commander now cannot see us through those same grounds and hills as we escort him. Trying to get him up and down hills can be a beach if they have a sharp edge to them. As soon as you drop over the edge, or climb above one, he can't see you, and tries to escape.

The commander used to walk faster. When I did this quest a few months ago we managed to get him back from a base 9k away. Tried a base 3.5k away the other night and failed cos he walks so slow now and wont go up or down a hill.

After having some Nightsister rangers wander by, and end my quest early( for the 2nd night in a row ) I'd be all for the speeder. I know it'll never happen, and I say this joking around, but hey, I paid for a V-35, and I was teamed with someone, any reason we cant jam Mr. Sith in the speeder, and make the other group member hold a pistol to his head ?!?!



In all seriousness, take away the time constraint. Or surprise us, make it so any commander captured from 2k to 3k get's 1 hour, from 3k to 4k gets 1.5 hours, and beyond 4k get's 2 hours....
