Since the xp granted for crafting is broadly proportional to the amount of resources, there probably isn't any method that's much cheaper than any other.

The path that's generally accepted to be the most effort-efficient is to grind Droid Engineer 0004 and craft ADFUs for 528xp each (including practice and buff bonuses) for 150 steel and 70 fiberplast. That works out at around 2.1 units of resources per fs xp, or around 5 million credits (at 2cpu for grind resources) for a full line of crafting (not counting the novice box and assuming you're buffed the entire time).

I just ground out a little FS xp to cap off a box using Bio-Engineer. It is no where near as quick as going DE, but the resources required should be easily obtained.

Each of the 3 nutrient tissues (Micro Nutrient Supplement, Broad Spectrum Nutrients, and Intelligent Nano Nutrients) use nothing more than meat and flora. With the large amounts of meat being harvested these days, you should be able to find all you need for 1cpu. If you are willing to pick up novice scout and go out in a group for a few hours, you will collect quite a bit for free.
