Thread: A question about branches

Hi all,

I recently got access to the village. yey for me. I've been reading up on the village, and I know that you need 6 branches to continue to the padawan trials. I also know that you can only unlock branch per phase. I have a plan of the branches I want to get, but in the end my plan requires me to do phase 1 three times, nothing in phase 2, one thing in phase 3 and two things in phase 4. This means that my plan will take me 33 weeks to accomplish.

I don't particularly mind this. But I was wondering. Is it possible that I unlock the first 6 branches available to me (for example, I do something in this phase 2, something in phase 3, etc. so that it only takes 18 weeks instead of 33), and then drop the branches I don't want as I get through with the branches I do want? Would I still be able to go through the Padawan Trials?

And example of the steps I would do:

I would start with branches from phase 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3.
I would go through the padawan trials, and at the same time get another branch in phase 4.
I would then surrender the branch from phase 2, meaning I would have branches from phase 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4.
I would continue this until I get my desired plan.

Technically, during the whole time I would have 6 branches completed. The only thing is that they would change now and again.

I hope this makes sense to someone. Can someone tell me if this is possible?

Thanks

Yes, that will work. As long as you have 6 completed FS barnches at any one time, you'll be OK. In fact, I don't think you can drop below 6 branches once you have them anyway.

I have done my FS quests in the same order, namely: 2 3 4 1 2 3. As we're now on 2, I have one unlock to go.

If I want any of the other FS skills, I'l go back and do them at a later date.

You can certainly do it, but to complete a FS tree (4 boxes) is a lot of experience points to throw away and have to duplicate all over again.

/agree with previous. As long as you maintain six complete branches at any one time you're fine... but you're going to be using up a LOT of XP on branches if you're actually planning to drop them later on.

Only you can decide if the time you save by getting to Jedi faster is worth the extra grinding you'll have to do to eventually get to the template you want. Personally, I'd just take it easy and use that wait time to bank all the XP you're going to need so that the second you unlock the sixth branch you actually want, you'll be ready for that Old Man visit.

Hmm, well being new to the Force Sensitive system, I can only look at the conversion rates and say "it probably will take me a while".

On the other hand, I have no plans to drop this game. This effectivly means I have all the time in the world to perfect my character. So I will probably go ahead with my plan, and just gradually change the skills to ones I want as I progress. I don't mind grinding all that much, and with my town having hunts continuously on, I'm sure I won't really notice.

Thanks for your help guys!

Just keep in mind, that if you decide to grind your jedi template first, and then go back, it will be much harder to do second time around because your xp caps will be much lower. For example, I want to go back and do melee accuracy phase 3 and drop vehicular control. I just finished by jedi template yesterday. Now that I no longer am a Master Rifleman, my rifle xp cap is much lower.

I wasn't sure that I can drop one of the original six until reading this thread. I'm glad I can actually do this. I'm debating though if it's worth all the grind just for melee accuracy.
