Thread: question on old man, sith visit, and my lvl

Im new to this village stuff as I unlocked pre-pub 9. Anyway, my alt just got the inner glow message and I figure why not go and get some artisan quests done. Anyway, once the old man comes and I then wait for sith....what happens if Im only lvl 24 ?
Im picturing me shuttling into town and the sith jump me. Then 5 others blast them. Do i get loot rights if I dont touch them? Is there something to loot ? Can I get credit for the kill if I only hit them once ?
Any advice for someone who will never get higher than my current level. I know once I get access to village I'll be fine. The artisan quests I see are just surveying.

lvl doesnt matter, just you'll get pwned by the old man's walking cane

U will be fine - I was lv 25 and was helped by a lv 80. May make a difference who loots but u can take the mission again as many times as u want. Im not sure about getting surverying (at least with being master art, as I am) the crafting mastery seems more useful to a non combat character.

The sith are level 75 and 77, so yes, by yourself, you are sunk. In a group, even just with one high level character, you should be OK. But you need to be the group leader (master looter), and don't let anyone else touch the sith corpses. You have to loot the next waypoint info yourself, if someone else loots it first, it cannot be traded back to you. After the two sith attack, you will get a waypoint to a camp nearby to kill three more (and then you get to loot the village waypoint). As long as your group kills the sith, and notplayersoutsideyour group, then I think you can still loot thecorpses. But it wouldn't hurt toattack each one yourself once or twice just to make sure. You don't get xp for the kill if you don't attack, but that doesn't matter.
I think there is now a stickied list on this forum of player helperswho willprovide thebodyguard services to get just this sort of thing done.

If you're only level 24, you will NOT be able to defeat the Sith by yourself. You will need to group with someone who's CL75+ as you'll be facing CL 75-77 Sith.
If you get jumped by the Sith, but somehow manage to not get incapacitated before others kill them (which isn't likely, 1-2 hits will be enough for an incap), then you won't have loot rights unless you're grouped with the players that killed them. I don't think you actually have to hit them if you're in the group... you just have to be grouped before they're dead.

I just did this all today at level one. I gotthe visit from the old man and just stayed in my house crafting to be safe until the next server reset. This morning, I knew I would get an attack once I left my house, so I had two high level guildies group with me. I pulled out my CDEF rifle and when they appeared, I shot both of them (just to make sure I will be able to loot, have heard both ways) and let them kill them. I looted them, got the waypoint to the camp and did the same thing there. Wham, level one and in the village. Just get help that you can trust not to loot and you will be fine.
