We usually know which are the "best" to hunt, IMO Giant Baz Nitches on Dath and Hurtoon Stalkers on Dant. But we all know how hard it can be sometime to get those missions from the terminals (and also a help to decide which random spawn creatures to stop to kill) and especially get two in same direction. Many times the Gods of Random is working against you. After refreshing that terminal 50 times and not getting another Giant Baz mission you would like to know which else is good to take instead.
So how about trying to put together a list of good creatures to hunt?
When I see random spawns I check:
- Is the lair 64k, if it is then max number of creatures will spawn. Anything below 50k is usually not worth it
- Check resists. No armor + Blast resists (if you are using grenades with blast damage) below 30. If they have light armor and low blast resists I might take them anyway: Note: if they are vulnerable to blast (no resists) then Imp detonators are a better choice to use than Thermals. You only get the AP bonus if they have resists.
- Check HAM. usually need around 8-11k to get max XP (not 100% sure about exact HAM). But many times will lower level creatures have more spawns so it might even out.
- Special attacks: Avoid those with strong poison attacks (at least if you can't heal it) and dizzy+KD (or dizzy+posture down).
List them like this: Priority (1=best), Name,´´
Dathomir
1)Giant Baz Nitch: Good: Good XP, no special attacks, Bad: none
2) Kamurith Snapper: Good: XP, Bad: 30% blast resists, Dizzy/stun attacks
2) Mutant Baz nitch: Good: No special attack, Bad: less XP than GBN,
3) Gaping spiders (normal avoid hunters, reclusive): Good: Quick to kill: Bad:LowerXP, Intimidate, Poison(weak) Dant
1) Hurtoon Stalkers: Good: Good XP bad: Dizzy/stun
Please fill in :-) (need to do some work now lol)

About the same damage actually (but also depends on the stats on the grenades. one might be relative better than the other depending on what resources have spawned on the server). Maybe slightly better with thermals but not by much. One extra benefit with thermals are a larger blast radius though.
Generally thermals will be best against any creatures with blast resists and imp detonators if they are vulnerable to blast. Thermals have a lower base damage than Imp detonators (1800+ vs 2200+ on my server). But Thermals are AP2 and Imps are AP1 which means they get 25% more damage bonus because of the higher armor piercing than Imp detomators. You only get this bonus when the creature has resists against blast (25% for each level higherAP over the armor rating). So when vulnerable it is the higher base damage that make Imps better.

For hunting with C12's, I find Perleks on Lok to be good. No blast resistance whatsoever, they do little damage, aggro around the lair easily, lots of mobs spawn per lair, easy missions, close to the terminal,to find after a refresh or two, andI get 900-2200 combat xp per perlek depending on their type. They're also avian meat, which depending on the resource shift could pay for all those grenades.

I highly recommend a set of good composite, buffs and lots of nades for a large solo group on dantooine, huurtons (any besides regulars and matrons) are wicked good combat xp...around 5k per kill..but i have my flamethrower equipped which gives extra experiance i think, also i am granades 4 now
i am using my nades to get me the rifleman combat xp line, then i will start my FS grind.

I am a master commando and working on rifleman. I have been using protons for awhile now and they seem to kill the heck out of the Baz nitches. The only thing I gotta worry about isd the mind cost of the grenades. I am not sure if huurton stalkers would give em 5k of comat xp I am averaging 4.5k per baz nitch thoug.

The only problem I have with tossing thermals as Rifleman is the damage you can take ... the toughness from a melee profession is a big help. These days, I toss 3 grenades with VK equipped (reduced damage), then switch to rifle (increased XP).

When I get tired of the Dathomir & Dantooine landscape, I go to Endor and get missions for Bark Mite Burrower Drones, around 9k credit payout if I remember well.
http://www.swgcreatures.com/detail.asp?creatureID=403
They aren't as high level as stalkers or baz (e.g. less xp), but lairs spawn many at a time.
Just watch out for the Gorax

Are those the Bark bites that do disease? Disease is a bit annoying since you will end up with a full black bar since they last a long time.
I do them as well though. And Handakin (whatever spelling) and borgles. Arachnoids is pretty good for C12/Imp detonators since they are viulnerable to blast. But they poison

when it comes to grenades:
Get in solo group (a MUST), go to dath, only do GBN's....ever! Best XP, in a 11+ solo you will get 5500 combat per kill, no states, no babies spawn, and quickest travel to Village.
GBN missions are always the 11k missions, get two the same direction, and milk the lairs. you can easily get between 150-200k on two lairs, sometimes into the 220's if it goes right. Then you pick to SE misssions, (village direction), milk one, check xp, milk number two if necessary, then hit village and convert. returning to the SO hit the missions on the way back for a quick 50-100k, get two more mission to SE and milk them go back to village and convert. Repeat.
If your timing is right, you have vehicle control 4, a swoop, and the terminals cooperate you can cap 4 times easily in one buff, my best is 5 but that was pure luck, my average is 3 (which is about all the attention span i have for that anyway. then i have to go do something else for a while.)

Han_solo, yes that method is the most efficient.
I usually start doing 200k or more combat XP on Dant since I usually go there for a solo group, then I go to village take 2 mission in village direction. Milk each lair one timeif I am not cappedalready (if I am I save them for my return to SO) and a second time on my way back to SO.
I really hate driving on Dath (not to mention those trees you get stuck on). And now there are a lot more NS around that might knock you off your bike. The time to reach your missions take longer than for example on Dant. I usuallycap quicker on Dant than Dath because of that. However doing missions on Dath in village direction save you a bit of driving though compared to capping on another planet.Having to travel between Dath and Dant is not much of an issue when you have JTL.
I am so bored with Dath lol.
That advice with getting vehicle control seems interestting. Doesthat mean you save some significant time when driving (guess it might help when driving around the trees) . Then it might be worth spending 4 SP on that now.

Having the vehicle control 4 helps with going up hills and such, and drving around trees a little I guess.

I know that if you take missions to the SE it shortens your time between traveling from missions to village. One thing to consider if you don't like the trees is taking missions to the south. When ready to go to village, keep going south then head directly east to get to village. You get out of the forest and don't have to worry about trees. You also get the extra benefit of most people not travelling that way to gank your mission spawn.
I also have to agree GBN and nothing else. Go master commando and tkm. Hold your VK and toss protons. You can kill an entire wave in 1-2 stacks of protons. Use the feign death trick and take out 10 GNB at the same time.
