I am a fair way from completing all of my FS boxes that I need, but I have a question on becoming a Jedi.

I have seen that you can become a Dark or Light Jedi, how do you do this? do you get an option at some point along the line? or do you have to do a certain mission that depics what you will be?

First of, there are only two sith and you can not be one of them. I just wanted to clearthat up because if you go into the Jedi boards, some people get pretty grumpy about oversights like that. The Sith are a cult who practice and pass on their knowledge of the dark side. The Dark Jedi are more of the rouge jedi that follow neither the jedi teachings and code or the sith teachings and code. They do pretty much what they want.

The difference between Light and Dark Jedi are minimal at this point. Everything I'm going to tell you is subject to change as the Force Ranking System(FRS)is currently disabled and is being reworked. But in the old system it went something like this;

Imperials were givin the chance to do the Dark Jedi Knight Trials and the Rebels were givin the chance to do the Light Jedi Knight Trials. These Trials are identical in every way other then the faction that you are working for. They involved killing so many creatures or opposing Rebel/Imperial NPCs of a certain rank in the armies. Or killing an ancient Krayt Dragon.

After you've completed the trials you are givin a new robe and made perma Overt for your chosen faction orRebel or Imperial. The Jedi Robe is brown and the Dark Jedi Robe is a dark blue almost black color. You are also givin access to a Light or Dark Jedi Enclave. Both are located on Yavin IV and this is a place where Jedi can meet and hold meetings or duel each other in relative safety. But I will tell you now that these Enclaves are rarely used and people will usually stick to guild halls or "Safe Houses" when they want to have a meeting or duel a friend. The Light Jedi Enclave is a pretty place with beautiful looking pilars and what looks somewhat like Marbal, to me at least, floors and cielings and a large room with many chairs for Knights to sit in and meet with each other and the Council Members (a rank attained by progressing in the FRS). The Dark Jedi Enclave is set up around a dueling ring. As the ways of the Dark Jedi are often violent, in order to offically progress in the FRS as a Dark Knight you may be required to beat a fellow Dark Jedi and claim his spot. Whereas in the Light Jedi Enclave it is all based on voting and politics.

As far as skills go, a Light Jedi and a Dark Jedi can use the same skills, it is all up to the user as to which template they choose to grind. In the FRS, as you progress upwards in it by participating in PVP and killing opposite faction Jedi, you are awarded new titles and slightly different robes, keeping the colors the same on the robes mind you. With these new rankings you are awarded bonuses to certain skills. Here is where the Jedi become ever so slightly different. The Light Jedi recieve bonuses to healing and enhancing abilities, While Dark Jedi become more powerful in the arts of the Jedi Powers. But I will tell you now that the bonuses givin are minimal at best and make almost no difference.

Those are the main differences that I can think of right now. But like I said the system I've explained here is no longer being used as it is being replaced with a new one sometime soon hopefully.

If you search the Jedi Forums I'm sure you can find pictures of each Jedi Enclave and their Robes that are givin out at each rank. As well as a fine post by a man named Glzmo explaining a great idea that he has compiled for an improved FRS.
