Im thinking about getting MTKA and M pikes but I was wondering is if a melee classes grinding potiental is as good or slightly below that of a ranged class? I know a ranged class can grind good but I am wondering about a melee class because everyone is doing ranged and thats something I dont wanna do.
I know it wont be as good but will it be decent enough to grind with??

I would imagine it would be. Just have to think on your feet and go about fighting smart.

Yes, but get a group and know that a bug exists that allows mobs to attack you in melee combat from 100m away after you start combat with them.
I love it mobs are exploiting.

and for this reason i would let a ranged prof pull the mob to your group and then you should attack them

im currently using the TKM/Mastr Pikeman template and its ok. as the above poster stated, you now need to think....i occasionally try to use my Jawa Ion t opull one away at a time and fight 1v1, but it doesnt always work. This is the point where i change my tactics.../burstrun

As one of the few non-powergamer soloists i'd have to say it's just become ten times harder. I only get to play for an hour or two at a time tops once or twice a week and that's not really conducive to getting a group together and getting alot accomplished. I'm currently TKM/Master Swords and had to group to finish off the last couple of missions for Ranged Defense and only lucked out finding a lvl 80 who was willing to help me out. I understand the intent of the Devs but I hope they make it somewhat more feasible for soloists to play as readily as the powergamers.

I am Master TK Master Pike....
I just did my last full branch of Fs XP in two days. So hell ya man! Go for it!
I love the combination it rocked!!
Now Phase 4 - Need to unlockthe tree / then Do Mel *laugh* cringe...
Then the glowstick....
And before you say another huge grind you better check out the new tactics... Using Jedi for Melee and Having a group of ranged Jedi are making tons of XP generating 0 Vis......(if their smart)
The Age of the Jedi is NOW!

Sure, I'm Master Fencer myself (with as much Ranger as I have skill points to add to my level and to get sensitive xp) and have been doing awesome with the grind. I do have to say that I do no more solo hunting and only hunt in groups but I've been doing two to three scout xp caps (at 600k) a day and have made about 500k fs combat xp during that time too. It's also a LOT more fun than throwing nades at nitches.

considering pre cu all the power gamers were soloers that was kind oif the point in making it kind of a requirment ot get alot of xp to group. i tink what you mean is more feasable for casual players to grind as it is power gamers
