I got my glow earlier today. The force is with me; but the old man is not.
I tried some of the tips in the guide: logging out repeatedly, walking to the 0,0 waypoint, etc.
I have now been meditating at that waypoint on Yavin IV for a few hours.
The guide says that he Eventually shows, and to avoid static cities, combat, or fast travel in the meantime.
Does anyone have a ballpark average on how long it is supposed to take? I'm beginning to think something has gone wrong.

Just fly back and forth to rebel or imperial outposts, these spots aren't considered cities. Shouldn't take long at all.

None of the tricks work...
What I did? I just played the game, and he ran up after 24 hours while I was in a player city.

Really? I wonder why so many people believe the tricks work then...
Hmm..
I understand a certain amount of placebo effect with these tricks exist... People see him when they just started doing something different so they think it was the cause, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't more of a voice against posting those methods in the official guide if none of them work at all.

Yes, really.
It is 100% random with 48 hours (usually) of the unlock or event that triggers the visit.

Well I'd like to just play the game, but I've read several things that actually prevent him from coming that I would like to be doing, such as being in a city or in combat.. or even riding my speeder.
What can I do if those are true?

If any condition exists that would prevent him from coming to you, logic would stand that he will appear when the preventative condition is removed.
He will come if you are in combat, that I know.
You won't miss him if you play normally, as long as you are ATK and paying attention.

Just do what you would normally do. Dont sit in cities like and major city like Coronet or Theed. I got both of my visits in player cities. My second was right outside my house. Ran out and there he was. Just have fun in the gamehis visit is completely random.

can't agree with this and most of the posts in this thread enough. all the methods of making the old man appear are complete and utter bollox. he will come whenever he wants and nothing you will and can do will affect that.

9 hours after finishing the village, I was with a group attacking a base when the Old Man showed up for a chat. Nothing like getting a WP to Mel and taking down a base.
If you play the game, he will come.
