I am confused as to when (or if) I will get a 2nd character. If so, when is the 2nd char unlocked? The answer is probably right under my nose on these forums but I thought I'd ask. (No such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people asking the questions. LOL). Thanks.

When you finish Intiate trial 7 and craft your sabre.

With the almighty Punishment 10, i mean, Publish 10... people are now forced to wait until becoming a Jedi Padawanto be able to unlock the 2nd character slot. Which means unlocking 6 FS skill trees to become Jedi Initiate, and then doing the Padawan Trials in order to get Padawan. Since you can only unlock 1 tree per 3 week phase, that means a minimum of 18 weeks waiting. In the old days they got Padawan and 2nd character slot within a short wait time of becoming FS, usually on the same day or within 24 to 48 hours. By the way, people back then were still complaining that there were too many Jedi's, just like they are complaining now. This Punishment 10 has only served to create even more Jedi's as now there is "how-to" guides on explaining everything.

Bring back the old Jedi system devs, or at least give us the 2nd character slot as a reward for becoming FS as well as having a 2nd character to play to give us a break from all the FS grinding insanity.

You get your second slot once you hit padawan. You don't get the slot on your 7th mission (Jedi Initiate status).

Does becoming padawan require another visit from the old man?

No you become padawan once you finish your last quest. So once you go to the shrine again after your last trial it will say congrats and all that and give you the rank of padawan and your robe that also unlocks your second slot.

One more question, of topic. Do free unlocks still exist. If so, what determines how many you get, and how do I find out how many I have once I reach the Village?

It does if you were part of the hologrind long ago pre-pub 10. So if you did the hologrind or just mastered a ot of professions then and never cashed in yet then yes you MAY have free unlocks but if you didn't participate in the grind then you will have 0 unlocks. So no you can't get free unlocks now unless you did this stuff looooong ago.

So, what if you want to get the second character but you don't want to be a jedi, can you go through the work to unlock the 2nd char and than stop working toward jedi or even get rid of the jedi stuff from the first char?

negative. for those of us who are close to finishing or have finished the village, changing it back would mess that up. and for Pete's sake, who care there are too many jedi. it's a game people. Do the jedi attack you unless you are huntign them ...no. do the change the mission payouts or exp you gain when doing missions...no. jedi dont do a thing to affect another person. so what if they show off thier force pwoers...they earned it. hwta have you guys who are complaining done?

Unsure as to how to answer this one.

Basically the answer i would give is:

You get to Padawan on your first char slot to unlock the second.
From there you should be able to give up all your jedi skills _after_ you create your second char. And continue to play having two chars on the server.

However, don't quote me on this. I have not tested it since i enjoy playing my Jedi

That scenario is what I would hope for, not that I have anything against being a Jedi but the vision I have for my toon just isn't a Jedi, but the 2nd char is just way too valuable to me not to get.
