So I made it to the village for the first time last night. (not bad for a guy who wanted nothing to do with the force till the last week and a half and been playing since launch) There were so many questions and so many posable ways to go. A voice of reason in vent (cant tell you who since I still dont reconize all the voices there) told me to read the forums and then make a good choice. Not so easy, I read the whole thing and only have more questions and less understanding of what to take. I want to be a uber fighing Jedi. (maybe then I wont die so fast in PVP like I do now) I took the quest with the patrols. Now im not sure if that was the correct way to go. I wish there was a councler you could chat with and figure out what the heck to do.
OK, thats my 2 cents worth.

You are really early into this...so you don't really need to worry.

When I started the Village, I unlocked quests and branches that would help my current profession. So, I am a Master Swordsman...so the Melee Speed and Melee Accuracy made sense to me, and really helps the prof.

You'll have some that benefit your Jedi and some that don't.

You need 6 full branches, so...

On the ones that don't benefit your Jedi, pick ones that sound like they interest you.

If you are a fighting template and have any free unlocks, use those unlocks on the crafting or senses branches.

Gaining FS XP through combat is faster, easier, and better,IMO

I took the quests for Melee and Ranged defense (benefit), Melee and Ranged speed (debatable), Melee Accuracy (benefit) and luck (my random choice of what a waste for Jedi).

my FS template is melee defense and survival (plus 5 to TA) then master combat prowess.

Almost done and when I go Jedi my template will be MLS/ Mdefender and healing 4xx4 imho this is the best for PvP. When the Combat revemp comes out people won't be able to defense stack and TK's won't be able to wear armor from what I hear. If this stacking rule does go live then ... NO MORE TKM/ BH 3xxx.
