What are the requirements to unlock a second charector slot? Thank you.

You have to complete the whole padawan trials to open up your alt character? I don't find that to be true because I know of a jedi that's a friend of mine, he's still a padawan and he has an alt character... Some verification please?

Once you defeat Mellichae, you start your Jedi training. There are 16 (I believe) quests. Halfway through them you craft your training saber and are given the title "Jedi Initiate". Complete the rest and you are a Padawan and unlock your 2nd charater slot.

You open the 2nd slot at the end of the padawan trials. The trials are just a set of 16 missions. You're still a Padawan at the end though, so that's probably where your confusion is coming from. You don't move from Padawan until you complete the Knight trials.

also 24 sp you will never be able to drop and if your doing it just to get a second char the risk that if they bring perma death back you are screwed

New question .. (sorry to piggyback this) when you make your new character, you can decide who to make the Jedi? Does all the FOrce sensitive up-till-then work move over to the new character? or are they both at an even level .. must not be because that would mean you have two padawans? How does that work?

No, the character who did the village and trials is your Jedi, period.
You're second character starts out like any other, though if you wish to do the village and trials again, you can make the second one a Jedi as well. But you will not get a third character.

The trials are to become a padawan. Once you have completed the village and the exit quest you are a jed initate. Then you do 16 very boring, time consuming, and sometimes bugged quest that you receive from a force shrine. Upon the completion of the trials you open your second slot and begin the Jedi grind. You will not be very powerful at this point and will only do about 12 points damage with your training saber but Jedi is fun after you get a couple levels of lightsaber.
