every nade grinder has their own opinion on these issues. i myself use thermals without pups. i can never be arsed getting pups out of crates and putting them on nades, cuz its not gonna make that much difference if you ask me.

I used power ups when I could and I did notice a big difference, most power ups on Thermals will add +500 to the max dmg and that helps a lot. But thing is you will need a lot of them 2.5 crates per every crate of nades and they take forever to put on.

For IMP Detonators, there is no real difference. I prefered the Damage pups. I would not recommend using Speed pups on Thermals though. I nearly killed myself doing so much medium armor piercing damage that fast.

I would get the 4m radius IMP Dets and stand 5m from the lair. Never had a problem.

arent you supposed to stand in the lair so that all the creatures get hit (including the ones healing the lair)?

LOL, If you want to die. Now I see where grenade tossers get a reputation for being dumb, no offense to you though. I've had to frag a few forum freaks for bashing grenade tossers today because they called me an idiot for not spending extra weeks grinding FS XP as a normal profession. Pretty funny stuff actually, click my name and check out my posts on the issue from this afternoon. I love the fact that no one else dared to reply.

As with all lairs, they will have 3-5 creatures when you arrive, spawn 3-5 as you attack the lair, and then another 3-5 as you get the lair down to 1/3 integrity. It all depends on how big your group is, but that is besides the point. When you toss the first grenade at the lair, they will all aggro you and come to you. When they get to you, run straight through the lair and stop on the other side at 1m + the radius of your granade damage. When you toss the next grenade you will face the lair, and all the creatures that chased you through the lair will now be between you and the lair, i.e. inside the blast radius. As more spawn, you may have to run back through the lair to the other side, but it should not be a problem to keep the creatures between you and the lair.

I was using IMP Detonators that did between 2100-2400 damage with damage pup, and Wookiee armor that had little or no blast damage, but 80% kinetic damage. I stayed out of the blast zone but could tank against the creatures easily while they died in the blast zone. Get in a group of about 5others and go for Giant Baz Nitches. I was able to get about 45,000 Combat XP per lair. I could cap Combat XPin about 40 minutes. I was easily able to do 1 FS box per night, except the level IV boxes, which I did over 2 nights.

Almost forgot, don't use grenades on the lair unless there are creatures out. The # of grenades it takes to finish off the lair is not worth the XP.

Also, NEVER let someone tell you that you are dumb for tossing grenades. I spent about 6,000,000 on grenades total. That 6,000,000 went to other players, thus helping the overall economy. Additionally, when there are people that regularly will pay me 2,000,000 for a crafted AV-21 that I can pick up in less than half an hour on the Vette if I'm lucky, I would say 6,000,000 for a Jedi account is quite a bargain.

I swear it was happening. I tried to toss grenades without melee mitigation from TKM and got killed, quickly. When I got TKM, I wouldn't die, but my armor took a severe beating. I was going through a suit every few days. I always assumed it was from the grenades, because the Baz Nitches never seemed to hit me much.

Either way, my method does keep the mobs in the blast zone, and I liked to have the piles of bodies outside of the lair so I could tell how many more would spawn. Plus I was harvesting them for Scouting XP, so it made it easier.

Well you do know in the time frame of which the animation when you throw the grenade till it lands turns off all defenses in the time? Could've been those baz nitches bro. I only noticed this cuz everytime I threw my nades,I got hit round 100-150. Think its a bug.

right, let me start with you. firstly, you are making thiungs way to complicated. i can stand in the lair, drop nades at my feet and still take very little damage which regens within 3 seconds, so i doubt very much that i'm going to die. as for you dying, i think thats cuz of the lack of blast resists in your armour. i myself buy nothing but the best armour and use comp with at least 80% resists to blast for FS grinding.

also, i laugh at your 45k per lair, i get about 100-140k xp per lair, depending on what other creatures are attacking my GBN

i'm pretty sure thats not why you get hit. you take damage cuz you just dropped a grenade at your feet and failed to see a reason to run away. you are actually damaging yourself with your own grenade. the reason it looks like you get damaaged as you throw the grenade is because the animation sequence is not in line with when the damage is calculated. you will notice that the GBN also get hit as you start to throw the grenade, not as it explodes
