this phase 3 quest is driving me insane!!

i spend weeks trying to find a remote that goes to a close base. i finally find a base thats not camped and is 4k away from teh village. i figured something would go wrong but i got the commander. 3/4 of the there he falls over dead, 1 hour timelimit up... ITS MADNESS!!
