Thread: Lightsaber Generations at Initiate

I just got the LS schematics for the Padawarn trials. It was my understanding that the generation of lightsaber you could craft used to be tied to skill boxes, and that each successive generation required a prior saber. However, you get all of the schems at initiate and I don't see a prior LS requirement in them. Is there any reason to not just go ahead and make a 4th gen saber right off the bat?

You can definitely try this, however unless you have excellent pearls, the force cost will probably be too high to use it repeatedly until you have some additional force skills. You'll probably be better with a lower level (gen 1 or 2 ) saber to start.

I made 4th gen double right at initiate. But I had four crystals ready to go. You can get these fairly easily from Canyon Corsairs on Lok. They're not great but you'll have a better saber then the lower ones.

Once you get into a good group you'll start getting enough xp to get enough force to grind w/o too much trouble if you stick to /saberhit.

just using saber hit is a miserable way to grind, i created a second gen saber and love it, i spam saber spin attack on gurk lairs and the xp flows like water at 1k a kill i still have a little over 3-4 hours....(1600 gurks) to get my fourth box but whatever its so much quicker than just using saberhit

No, you don't have to have a prior saber to make the next, they all have a CL tied to them now so whatever CL you are is the one(s) you can use.

Why would you want a 4th gen Light Saber at such a low level? The force cost at low level padawan will kill you on the grind.

I have a 4th gen but keep it on my belt. Only using it for PvP of those tough pulls.

Most of the time I grind with a 2 gen. Its my work horse blade.

Some advice. Enjoy the grind...you'll have plenty of time to get your uber saber.

he did not know why -- he was just asking since it was available to him what was keeping him from creating a 4th gen. Now he will know

One of the big things that may prevent you from making a 4th gen at the initiate level is the resources. The resources requirements are different for a 4th gen and are type specific. If memory serves me right the default FC(Force Cost) on a gen 4 saber is around 50. Now with a limited force bar at novice you will go through that in a heartbeat. Best to make a gen 1 or 2 to begin the grind lower force cost, easier resource requirements and fewer pearls/crystals needed. I would hold off on making a 4th gen until you getmore exp points (from LS 000x line) and better pearls/crystals. I used a 2nd gen through most of my grind till I had the force bar to finish with my 4th gen.

Thanks for all the great feedback - this is exactly the type of information I was looking for.
