Thread: Giving up Padawan... Is it possible?

I heard somewhere that to unlock your second character you need to get Padawan... However! Once you get padawan you can never surrender the skill. Is this true? And if so, how many Skill Points does Jedi Padawan take? (once again, I heard a rumor it took all 250)

I don't really care about getting a Jedi (at least, not on Eclipse), but I could REALLY use a Master Merchant (without the extra $15 a month fees)... and that's why I'm doing the Jedi "grind".

To unlock your second slot you will need to fill 6 lines of your FS trees. Thats 24 points worth as each box, excluding novice and master, is worth 1 point. Once you spend your 24 points in the FS treeyou can not get them back, but you will be able to use your second slot.

Related question...

Although it is not possible to give up Padawan or the required 24 skill points, is it possible to change your FS skills. Can you pick up FS skills somewhere else then drop your original skills.

Let me give an example:

When I reach Padawan I will be 4-4-4-4 Enhanced Reflexes and 4-0-0-4 Combat Prowess.

Say I decide to pick up Heightened Senses 4-0-0-4.

Can I then drop the Combat Prowess skills?

providing you have enough skill points, yes you can. however, you have to train in the 7th branch before dropping one of your unwanted 6.

as for the original poster, once you unlock, you hve to have at least 6 branches of FS skills at all time

Thanks. That would seem to make sense, but it is nice to have some verification

Wait!... So I don't have to go through the Padawan Trials to unlock my second slot? I just have to become a Jedi Initiate?

Another Question.

When I do unlock my second character slot, will it show a system message (or give me an email) saying I did? Or will I just need to try it out and see if I can make him?

You don't get an unlock message. When you go to createa new character, your current server will be available in the list of galaxies to start a character on.

BTW this is a grind to get a Jedi not a grind to get a second character. When you open the 2nd slot at padawan, you cannot give up those 24 points in FS skills. Once you become a padawan you must always maintain 6 full branches of FS skills.

ALSO.... padawan will suffer negative xp loss upon cloning (capped at -10 million). This makes is a really stupid idea to give up novice lightsaber. If you get in the negative xp hole, and later decide you want to be a jedi, you need to grind it out with only a training lightsaber getting a whopping100 xp a kill! Some players went down this road and lived to regret it.

Ok, so I DO need Padawan to get my second slot opened (I'll try it at various times throughout the Village to end this part of the "argument" (if you would even call it that) once and for all). And the only Skill Points it takes away is the 24 Skill Points for Force Sensitivity.

I'm getting a Jedi on another server, so I believe that will keep me happy with getting rid of Lightsabers as a Padawan. The only thing I have to figure out now, is what am I going to have to give up in order to be Force Sensitive ... Thanks for the help, you guys!

Wait a minute, I was able to get FS boxes back. Granted, I haven't unlocked the alt, but I did end up dropping 2 top-tier boxes to make room for (yes, I'm kicking myself for this now) merchant. Not sure if you meant that you can't get them back once you unlock, or if you can't ever get them back.
