After deciding to grind jedi on Tuesday after being FS since Patch 10 and I am only 7 boxes into it. I wasn't in a real hurry, but I am afraid that the CU, coming in May is gonna make things really hard. So I've decided to get jedi out of the way now. The boxes I've grinded so far have been done by swords/unarmed and I don't think I can make it by May, so I am thinking of using grenades.
At novice commando how long does it take to cap exp? How much do grenades cost and what grenades should I use?

Your best bet is to go Commando 4xxx and use Thermal Grenades in my opinion. You will normally use approx 12-15 crates per tree. You can cap Combat XP at 300k which gets you 100k FS XP. Get in a solo group and pull Giant Biz Nitch missions on Dathomir and "milk" them and you start pulling down the xp.
As for cost, price varies per server I'm sure as it varies from weaponsmith to weaponsmith. On flurry the most I've seen Thermals go for is 98k per crate and the lowest I've gotten them for was 25k per crate.

Follow what Ozosc said, but also expect to spend several million to finish the trees you have left. If you do not have the bank account to do it, I wouldnt even try.
for example lets say you get thermals for 75K a crate. If it takes you lets say 12 crates to fill one tree thats $900k per tree. All 6 trees youd be looking at around 5.4 Mil not including buffs, brandy, powerups, armor etc. etc. etc.... Make good friends with a weaponsmith if you can and see if he will give you a deal if you buy exclusively from him in quantity if you go this direction.

I can afford it. I'm 3/1/0/0 reflex, 1/0/0/2 combat. Think I can make it with thermals by May?

If my math is correct you would need about 5.8Mil exp more to complete all 6. If you grind out 300K FS Exp(Cap 3 times)in one buff session, it will take you give or take 19-20 buff sessions to complete. So unless you play quite often or more than one buff session in one sitting, it may not be possible. One buff session a day will take you about 3 weeks to finish if you get the full 300k each time. This is not taking into account the last 2 phases you need to unlock. Just to grind the exp. i could be wrong I hate Math lol

Naw I need one more phase to unlock, I haven't started the scout branch that I already unlocked 
I do play every night, some nights one buff session, some nights 2 buff sessions. If I'm not doing anything on weekends I play from 12 noon on Saturday till 4 a.m. Sunday, then all of Sunday. I predict its possible, but I gotta grind like mad.
